The Connecticut National Golf Club in Putnam, CT was the setting for the wedding reception of Marie and Josh yesterday. What a beautiful day it was. There was warm brilliant sun, then a few clouds and cool winds – but the day was joyous and fun. Here is just a few photos from the day…MORE to come SOON.
Today I am happy to share with you this recent Pomfret School Chapel Wedding at the Pomfret School of eastern Connecticut. Erin and Rob could not have had a more perfect day. It started out a little foggy but, as Erin’s father exclaimed after the ceremony, “The skies cleared as soon as they kissed!” The sun was bright and we had a beautiful, dry September day of celebration. Erin and Rob are two very special people. I met Erin a few years ago at a chamber of commerce meeting. She took my card then, and now many years later, she called when they decided to marry! I am thrilled that she did, as they planned a really fun and beautiful wedding and I had a chance to get to know them both a little more. One of her relatives had a Stanley Steamer car, so she arrived and departed in this cool old fashioned vehicle. The Pomfret School Chapel is a gorgeous place to be married. In fact, Erin’s parents were married there, too. I think that is pretty special. Erin and Rob included all her nieces and nephews as an integral part of the wedding party which made some […]
Looking for some fun summer portrait photography in CT? You have come to the right place. This time of summer, when the days are long and the kids are out of school, is the perfect time to schedule a portrait session. Think of fun summer portraits as a family activity because it takes some thought and planning in which you can involve the whole family, and it is fun for the kids in my studio because they will feel like stars! Plus parents have awesome images of the kids. Before each session I sit down with you and we make a plan. I find out what you are looking for in your portraits and I can visualize what would look great for your particular family. I like to custom design my sessions for each client, however you may also choose from some of the other ‘looks’ I have already created as well. Studio Choose from either a cool studio setting where I shot this portrait below. I have some fun hats and a variety of backgrounds that can be used to create the perfect look for you. Outdoors Or we can go outdoors in the early morning or evening when […]
Often brides ask about the dresses they see in my portfolio when they meet with me regarding my wedding services. Here are a couple of dresses that have attracted some attention from brides who are still loooking for that perfect dress. I thought I would share what I know about them because it may be helpful. This dress was a Maggie Sottero design, it has beautiful details and flowing lines. Here is a look at the back. This dress, below, is a Tara Keely design. I believe she found it at Mariella’s Attic in Rocky Hill. Good luck finding your dream dress!
Getting married in 2012? 2013? Research is key to finding the wedding professionals who will help you create the wedding day of your dreams. There are many websites and blogs that will list vendors in your area with reviews and images of their work. To name a few, WeddingWire, Wedding Reports, GetMarried, The Knot, Martha Stewart Weddings and the list goes on. Depending on the style of wedding you are planning it is helpful to look for vendors that have that ‘ feel’ you are going for. Now is the time to make a short list of vendors for 2012 weddings, and get out there and meet face to face. Meet ups are more than just exchanging information as you can get a feel for the person who you will be communicating with AND spending hours with on your wedding day. My recommendation: find the people you are comfortable with and actually like. Usually the rest will fall into place. Check back as I will be posting about some of my favorite wedding vendor colleagues that I love working with and that you might consider for your wedding. 🙂 This beautiful centerpiece above was created by Melissa at Stylish Blooms […]
I know it is rather traditional and maybe out of date to some minds.. but this kind image is a favorite of mine. I love the uniqueness of each hand; the contrast and the details. Hands have always been a favorite photographic subject of mine. When I studied fine art at UConn, I made a book (by hand) filled with photographs called, “Hands at Work”. These were dentists, artists, a baker, a mechanic, etc. Hands in themselves can tell the story of the person or persons they belong to. What does this image say to you? Please leave your thoughts, I would love to know.
Congratulations to Petra-Ann and Derrick who were married in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by friends and family – many who came from Jamaica! I had a great time photographing these gorgeous people. As usual, Amarante’s Seacliff did a great job! Here are a few of my favorite moments from the day. First, a quiet few moments with mom and dad. Bubbles kept the kids busy while we waited for everyone to arrive! And at last, even after dark we had portraits to do down by the water at Amarantes…. the skyline and the evening was beautiful!
It was the hottest day of July when Anna and Graham were married. But it was one of those lovely garden weddings that I just love. It all took place at Scot Free Farm, the home of Grahams parents in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut. Surrounded by family and friends, good home cooked food and drink, they were married in a flower garden under a canopy to give relief from the hot sun. Weddings don’t have to be formal or fancy, and this one was casually elegant, just right for this wonderful couple! It was personal and relaxed, and everyone including the flower girl had a grand time! She actually enjoyed going down the isle! Their faithful dog took part in the ceremony, too!
Hurricane Irene is closing in and I am thinking of all the people who either canceled their wedding or are hoping they can get it in before the storm hits. My best to you and hoping all is well. I am actually ok with the fact that I do not have a wedding to photograph this weekend. My husband, Peter, and I spent the morning clearing out the garage so we could get the cars in, bringing all the potted plants in, clearing the deck of furniture, filling bathtubs and cooking up some tasty food ahead of time in case there are power outages. Also, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 16 year old son, Matt, who just completed a 400 mile bike ride with two buddies. They are coming home today, one day early due to the storm. They made their goal! Mansfield, CT to Bar Harbor, Maine! They got there last evening, and turned it around this morning without much of a visit there. Thankfully, they are getting a ride home by car. What an adventure. What a week! Now, what a weekend, due to Irene! Stay safe everyone, evacuate if you need to, no heroics […]
