A Guilford Yacht Club wedding is always wedding in Connecticut that I look forward to! The setting is fantastic with views of the Long Island Sound, pretty sailboats next door, and a beautiful green lawn for an outdoor ceremony. This venue is perfect for the photography especially when the weather is cooperating like on this day. Cassie and Steve’s wedding last October is a perfect example of luck when it comes to the weather. Leading up to that day, it was a little nerve wracking but, that morning the sky cleared and we could not have asked for a better day. Their guests were able to ramble on lawn and the wedding party and their families were able to have portraits done there before the ceremony began. The Venue. Inside the Guilford Yacht Club there are many benefits to note for a wedding celebration. I love the main dining room’s open space with a four sided balcony above. It provides great views of the action below, plus, the outdoor balcony that looks out to the Long Island Sound is great for group photos of the Bride and Groom and all their guests. The entryway is nice for greeting guests and there is plenty of room upstairs for the bridal party to get ready on site. A plus for everyone with […]
Amarante’s Sea Cliff Weddings are among my favorites to photograph. Located in New Haven, Connecticut on the shoreline, it is a romantic, fun place to celebrate. I have found that the staff treat every bride, groom and their families as if they were their own! Peter Garceau and his staff do an amazing job. On June 11th, Amarante’s Sea Cliff was at its best. It had rained all morning, however, just in time for setting up chairs out on the lawn, the clouds parted and the day that Stephanie and Adam had dreamed of became a reality. They could not have asked for more perfect timing. I met the bride and her girls in the beautifully decorated dressing room upstairs. There was champagne, laughter and anticipation. Stephanie’s father stopped by as soon as she was in her gown and we caught a beautiful moment as he saw her for the first time as a gorgeous bride! Here are some highlights from Stephanie and Adam’s special day.
The Connecticut National Golf Club in Putnam, CT was the setting for the wedding reception of Marie and Josh yesterday. What a beautiful day it was. There was warm brilliant sun, then a few clouds and cool winds – but the day was joyous and fun. Here is just a few photos from the day…MORE to come SOON.
The day was cool and crisp and the fall foliage was at peak color. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate Chelsea and Peter’s Wedding at The Waterview. It was an honor for me to photograph their special day. They will create a fantastic life together. This was a brilliantly fun and elegant affair, as is the norm for a wedding at The Waterview. The details reflected the autumn colors with hints of Halloween everywhere giving it the feel of an old fashioned masquerade party. The Waterview has two wonderful settings for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Set on Lake Zoar in Monroe, CT, the grounds are well manicured with patios and well landscaped gardens. A wonderful setting for the photography. Here are some favorite photos from the day to share with you. Congratulations Chelsea and Peter! Best wishes to you both. This wedding at The Waterview was my last wedding of 2014. What a wonderful way to finish the season. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Please leave a comment so I know you were here. 🙂 Vendor Highlights: Dress: www.dessy.com; Tuxes: Mens Warehouse; Flowers: Main Street Florist & Gifts, Ridgefield, CT; Hair: Pure Platinum Hair Salon in Oxford, CT; Nails: […]
Today I am happy to share with you this recent Pomfret School Chapel Wedding at the Pomfret School of eastern Connecticut. Erin and Rob could not have had a more perfect day. It started out a little foggy but, as Erin’s father exclaimed after the ceremony, “The skies cleared as soon as they kissed!” The sun was bright and we had a beautiful, dry September day of celebration. Erin and Rob are two very special people. I met Erin a few years ago at a chamber of commerce meeting. She took my card then, and now many years later, she called when they decided to marry! I am thrilled that she did, as they planned a really fun and beautiful wedding and I had a chance to get to know them both a little more. One of her relatives had a Stanley Steamer car, so she arrived and departed in this cool old fashioned vehicle. The Pomfret School Chapel is a gorgeous place to be married. In fact, Erin’s parents were married there, too. I think that is pretty special. Erin and Rob included all her nieces and nephews as an integral part of the wedding party which made some […]
Here is a sneak peak of last weekends wedding which took place at the historic and beautiful Wright’s Mill Farm in Canterbury, CT. It is located in the northeast corner of the state. A rural area with covered bridge, a pond and old barns. I wonderful place for a June wedding and for couples who make the photography a priority. This wonderful couple, Ashley and Jeremy, created a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception here at Wright’s Mill Farm. Take a look and stay tuned for more images to come. Congratulations to Ashley and Jeremy on marriage.
I loved photographing this gorgeous couple’s Engagement Session on the Storrs Campus at UCONN. The UCONN campus is a park, a botanical garden, full of new and old architecture and a working farm! So many photographic opportunities here, especially in the spring. The trees were in full bloom, the grass was finally green and the skies cleared for us that day! Good light can be found anywhere. The trick is finding it with interesting backgrounds. UCONN’s Storrs campus is great for this as well. On this day we photographed between 4:30 -6:30 pm. The light was soft due to some fine clouds which diffused the sun, and the quality of light was warm because the sun was low in the afternoon sky. This helps to create pleasing skin tones and I can get ‘catch lights’ in the eyes. Open skies (not too many big trees or buildings to block the light) is important as well. I had good light reflecting on the faces. No flash or reflectors were used here, I just found some good open or directional light. The last photo is back-lit as the sun was very low. I wanted to create a rim of light on their […]
I am very excited about Ashley and Jeremy’s June wedding in Connecticut! It is taking place at Wrights Mill Farm in Canterbury, CT. It is a lovely place with many beautiful rustic features you would expect of a wedding in the country. A waterfall, winding roads and some cool historic buildings. There is even a horse and buggy which is supplied with your wedding package! To me, this kind of wedding setting is a dream. If you are planning a wedding in Connecticut, especially a June Wedding, and rustic settings are your thing – I would encourage you to check this place out. I will keep you in the loop after the wedding and share the photos right here on the blog. In the mean time, here is a quick portrait from last weekend when Ashley and Jeremy met with me briefly to go over the details. These guys are two very cool people, and they have been pretty busy! Not only busy planning their June wedding, but traveling overseas because of their jobs. We did make time to photograph them by my new outdoor walkway – with a split rail fence and rustic woods. Perfect for this couple! Thank […]
I hope you all have enjoyed the holidays, made it through, or simply got some rest! I hibernated a bit, had a great time with family and friends including many interesting conversations. I would like to share one with you. One night we shared ideas on personal Totems for each other… sometimes called Spirit Animals or Totems that American Indians and other world peoples have adopted in their spiritual lives. I always thought I related to the Wolf as a totem… as I have had many dreams in recent years with Wolves showing up. Perhaps it is just one Spirit Animal that I have needed in various times in my life, being a mother/pack leader for example. But, my son mentioned that he thought the Hummingbird Totem was perfect for me, and everyone agreed. Well, I was skeptical, but I do love those little birds, even have a Hummy Bird Feeder outside my window, plus a clock in my dining room with a hummingbird on it that my family gave to me. I looked up info on the Hummingbird Totem and sure enough it does describe many of my attributes. Perhaps, sometimes it takes a reflection back from others to […]
My challenge this summer has been the weather. The rains have come heavy and hard and it has made me stretch in many ways. When it is pouring, photographing outdoors is impossible – so you have to make it work somehow. My engagement session with Lily and Joe turned out great, but on my drive to their home I was not sure what I would do. The sky was clear and sunny when I left my studio. The forecast called for scattered thunder showers but I was optimistic. Five minutes away from their home I saw a sight that made my heart sink. The highway was up high so I could see the hills ahead where Lily and Joe’s neighborhood was. A huge black cloud was hanging low and letting loose with a downpour…. it was actually quite beautiful… but I feared it was where I was headed. I was right. It was pouring right over their neighborhood! We ended up sitting and chatting for awhile, which was fun. Then we took a few images in the house, and this first one is my favorite. They had a pretty living room window, so I silhouetted them together in front of […]
