I had the honor of photographing Crystal and Zack’s Wedding a few weeks ago. It was a fantastic sunny and warm day, perfect for a Connecticut Farm Wedding! The day was full of family and close friends, yet an intimate and fun event that everyone enjoyed. The farm setting was unique and lovely, even the bride’s horse was right at home. The kids had a blast running free all day and I think the adults had a really good time, too. A unique location like this has its challenges photographically because of the time of day, 12 noon, and open fields have no shade. It really is the most difficult light of the day, however, I did not worry and found ways to make it work. You see, the sun directly overhead makes it difficult to make light contour the face and body. No light in the eyes, and people tend to squint more. I had to make sure I used backlight and sidelight so everyone would look their best. The shade of the big old tree, nature’s alter/church, was perfect and a nice backdrop for the ceremony. There was an orchard where we did some photos down by the barn where we had darker […]
There is nothing quite like the feeling I get when I walk into a large cathedral, even in Connecticut. It could be anywhere in the world and it definitely takes my breath away. Beth and Alan planned an extraordinary wedding here in CT at the end of September and their ceremony took place in the beautiful Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Downtown Waterbury, CT. It is an Italian renaissance design after the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, (cool link, check it out!) is an extraordinary place to be married and I loved photographing it. While inside, you could pretend you were in Italy for an hour! Now, if you want to get married in a cathedral, you may want to get a dress that fits the church. Beth wore the perfect dress and ‘cathedral’ veil for this venue! I just love the long flowy dress and veil. They planned a joyous day – Alan’s family came all the way from Ireland and the two families met a few days prior to the wedding for the first time! The reception was held at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury, CT and their Stone Garden was perfect for formal photos […]
I love the small intimate feel of a garden wedding at home. It is a personal reflection of the couple, their families and their new life that lies ahead. This past weekend I had the honor to be the photographer at Beckie and Lester’s wedding. What a lovely day they planned with the help of family and friends. They even had home brewed beers with the coolest custom labels! After all the rain, it turned out to be a ‘picture perfect’ day. Here are a few images to give you an idea of how wonderful a day it was! Congratulations to this awesome couple and their families.
I had the honor of photographing the Wedding of Lauren and Anthony at the Waterview in Monroe, CT. It was a lovely ceremony which was held inside due to the wet weather. The ceremony room and reception tables were beautifully decorated with flowers by Elizabeth of Blush Floral Design. I loved this special moment between Lauren and her mother just before the ceremony. Lauren wore an amazing dress which looked comfortable and gorgeous! …..and Tony looked great as well. After the ceremony and formal photos, Lauren returned wearing these shoes and a cute short dress for the party! Anthony changed his shoes as well! Congratulations to Lauren and Tony! AND a thank you to Jean Molodetz for her help as second photographer. Your images speak volumes, and I look forward to working together again soon. Tip#2: With so many colors to choose from, think about how your color choices will look in your wedding images. Also, save the leftover fabric (hems) from your brides maids dresses so you can either match colors for the details, centerpieces or wrap the bouquet stems. Take a look at one of my brides from 2010, Pamela. She had a unique color scheme at her wedding at the Inn at Mystic, CT. I think it looked great for a summer outdoor ceremony! Pastels would not have stood up in the direct sun. Here they are in the shade for the photos and it still looks great.
I had the privilege to photograph the wedding of Rosalie and Aaron a few days ago on New Years Eve. They were married in a small ceremony of family and friends at a beautiful little church in Brooklyn, CT. These two very beautiful and special people are serving our country in Afghanistan and Iraq. After a honeymoon this week, they will both get ready to go back into active duty later this month. Thank you Rosalie and Aaron, I was honored to share your day! Here are some highlights –
I thought I would begin a blog series of wedding album designs. This way you can see what I do for my clients after the wedding. All my albums designs are custom, made specifically to match the couples style and the wedding day feel. No two albums are ever the same! The style I chose here was simple and traditional. Meet Amy and John. They were married in June 2010 and they planned an intimate garden wedding. Check back soon as I will be showing you more designs from this years weddings. Thank you for stopping by the blog!
In the beautiful eastern hills of Connecticut, Sandy and Craig were married last weekend at the Golden Lamb Buttery. It was a very cool and windy day, but so beautiful up on the hill where this wonderful restaurant is located in Brooklyn, CT. Here are a few favorite portraits from the day.
One of the reasons I love my job is that I meet the most wonderful people that I would never have met unless I was their photographer. I love the stories of my clients and Marsha and Don have a lovely story. Don spent many years devoted to taking care of his very ill parents, he has never been married before. Marsha lost here first husband to a serious illness and they both decided to join a bereavement group. They fell in love and got married last week at the Inn at Woodstock Hill. It did rain that day, however it did not during the ceremony. The Inn did a great job and I recommend it to any bride looking for a beautiful spot to have a ceremony and reception, gorgeous grounds for the portraits, plus a beautiful room for the night. Meet Marsha and Don, to very special people. I wish them all the best in their lives together.
Regan and Jason were married at the Riverview in Simsbury last Friday. Everything went beautifully! She wore a gorgeous gown – a Tara Keely design from Mariella’s Attic in Rocky Hill, CT; Invitations were done by Harvest Moon Ink; and the flowers were designed by Stylish Blooms . Congratulations to this terrific couple! Here are a few highlights from the day.
