A Wickham Park Wedding I had the honor of photographing Andrea and Jim’s Wickham Park Wedding at the Log Cabin in September. It was a bright sunny day with big puffy clouds so they could not have asked for weather. Joined by their family and friends, their vows were exchanged high on a hill overlooking the spectacular view of downtown Hartford. Great reasons to choose a Wickham Park Wedding. The Log Cabin at Wickham Park is one of my favorite places at the park to photograph a wedding. This location has a spectacular view of the city and sunsets. There is a resident Moosehead over the stone fireplace in the cabin for those who care! The white tent attached to the Log Cabin helps with larger events, rain, or hot days so this is a definite added advantage. The Guests and newly weds are able to enjoy the gardens for lovely photo opportunities or simply the ability to relax outside on the benches. On top of all this, the formal flower garden and outdoor ceremony patio (yes with a spectacular view) is a wonderful place for ceremonies. Andrea and Jim planned a day that was totally reflective of their interests and personalities resulting in a great time for everyone. Here are some photos from the day. We started photographing […]
I had the honor of photographing Crystal and Zack’s Wedding a few weeks ago. It was a fantastic sunny and warm day, perfect for a Connecticut Farm Wedding! The day was full of family and close friends, yet an intimate and fun event that everyone enjoyed. The farm setting was unique and lovely, even the bride’s horse was right at home. The kids had a blast running free all day and I think the adults had a really good time, too. A unique location like this has its challenges photographically because of the time of day, 12 noon, and open fields have no shade. It really is the most difficult light of the day, however, I did not worry and found ways to make it work. You see, the sun directly overhead makes it difficult to make light contour the face and body. No light in the eyes, and people tend to squint more. I had to make sure I used backlight and sidelight so everyone would look their best. The shade of the big old tree, nature’s alter/church, was perfect and a nice backdrop for the ceremony. There was an orchard where we did some photos down by the barn where we had darker […]
I had the honor of photographing this Mystic Seaport Wedding of Krisann & Tim. What an awesome couple! Krisann just happens to work at Mystic Seaport so she knew how wonderful it would be. Plus she is so creative and talented that she made her own veil and arranged all the flowers bouquets and arrangements! The ceremony took place in the Greenmanville Church and their reception was at Latitude 41 the restaurant right next door to the Seaport. It was a lovely day for a wedding however very hot and humid, so we stuck close to the air-conditioned Latitude 41 and took photos around that area of the Seaport. Here are some photos from the day.
Amarante’s Sea Cliff Weddings are among my favorites to photograph. Located in New Haven, Connecticut on the shoreline, it is a romantic, fun place to celebrate. I have found that the staff treat every bride, groom and their families as if they were their own! Peter Garceau and his staff do an amazing job. On June 11th, Amarante’s Sea Cliff was at its best. It had rained all morning, however, just in time for setting up chairs out on the lawn, the clouds parted and the day that Stephanie and Adam had dreamed of became a reality. They could not have asked for more perfect timing. I met the bride and her girls in the beautifully decorated dressing room upstairs. There was champagne, laughter and anticipation. Stephanie’s father stopped by as soon as she was in her gown and we caught a beautiful moment as he saw her for the first time as a gorgeous bride! Here are some highlights from Stephanie and Adam’s special day.
The day was cool and crisp and the fall foliage was at peak color. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate Chelsea and Peter’s Wedding at The Waterview. It was an honor for me to photograph their special day. They will create a fantastic life together. This was a brilliantly fun and elegant affair, as is the norm for a wedding at The Waterview. The details reflected the autumn colors with hints of Halloween everywhere giving it the feel of an old fashioned masquerade party. The Waterview has two wonderful settings for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Set on Lake Zoar in Monroe, CT, the grounds are well manicured with patios and well landscaped gardens. A wonderful setting for the photography. Here are some favorite photos from the day to share with you. Congratulations Chelsea and Peter! Best wishes to you both. This wedding at The Waterview was my last wedding of 2014. What a wonderful way to finish the season. Thanks for stopping by the blog. COLORS! Wedding Trends for this year, 2014 are among my favorites! This year the popular wedding colors include blues of all kinds, deep purples mixed with warmer tones – from red, orange to pinks. So far, some of my 2014 brides are incorporating orange and reds for the fall; shades of green and ivory for spring; and cool blue-violet mixed with whites for summer! I love those pastels when it is blazing hot! I think color choices set a mood and tone for any event. If you are a dramatic personality – hot colors may be your thing. Romantic and understated, pastels and lace may be perfect! I think it actually depends on who you are, what you love and what time of year you decide to get married. What colors have you picked for your wedding day and why did you choose them? Please share by leaving a comment! Congratulations to those couples who are newly engaged and planning your 2014-15 weddings! I have been meeting with many couples over the last month discussing their ideas about venues and details as they plan their weddings. Showing my albums and seeing the wheels turn as they look at my photographs, I decided it would be cool to share these ideas that my own clients created with everyone who drops by my blog as it could be helpful to others. In this post I will concentrate on a favorite of mine – ‘Black and White’ Weddings. Elegant, clean and appropriate for any time of the year. Thank you to my wonderful couple, Nicole and Michael for creating a beautiful day. One of my favorite venues for photographing – the grounds of the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, CT. Below you will see we photographed the formal portraits there. Black & White just pops in that setting and the garden colors were perfect with Mom’s beautiful dress. Be aware that there are fees and restrictions, but worth every penny, and please know that the fees help keep this very special place in tip top shape – so do your part and plan […]
I do have the best job in the world. I love serving my clients and thinking up cool ways to create something really special for each couple on their wedding day. There are many wedding locations in CT where I love to work. One of these is Amarante’s Seacliff in New Haven. Let me tell you a little about why I enjoy this place so much. #1: Grace and the whole team at Amarante’s treat their clients and vendors like family. (I am a preferred vendor there so I know!) They really care about your wedding day.. and they work with you as if you ARE a member of their own family. This is for real and not something you find anywhere. Trust me. #2: The food is awesome. I love to eat great food and when I photograph weddings I get very hungry so, it is always a pleasure to eat their fine food. Amarante’s does an awesome job at their Client Tasting events twice a year, too! #3: The service is wonderful. I have NEVER I experienced a hold up in the meal coming out or a glitch in the time-line that makes the guests fidgity wondering when […]
I know it is rather traditional and maybe out of date to some minds.. but this kind image is a favorite of mine. I love the uniqueness of each hand; the contrast and the details. Hands have always been a favorite photographic subject of mine. When I studied fine art at UConn, I made a book (by hand) filled with photographs called, “Hands at Work”. These were dentists, artists, a baker, a mechanic, etc. Hands in themselves can tell the story of the person or persons they belong to. What does this image say to you? Please leave your thoughts, I would love to know.
I had the honor of photographing the Wedding of Lauren and Anthony at the Waterview in Monroe, CT. It was a lovely ceremony which was held inside due to the wet weather. The ceremony room and reception tables were beautifully decorated with flowers by Elizabeth of Blush Floral Design. I loved this special moment between Lauren and her mother just before the ceremony. Lauren wore an amazing dress which looked comfortable and gorgeous! …..and Tony looked great as well. After the ceremony and formal photos, Lauren returned wearing these shoes and a cute short dress for the party! Anthony changed his shoes as well! Congratulations to Lauren and Tony! AND a thank you to Jean Molodetz for her help as second photographer. Your images speak volumes, and I look forward to working together again soon.
