Planning Your Senior Portrait Session. So make sure to start planning your senior portrait session at the end of your junior year in high school. You will have more time to be photographed in the summer when the weather is good and the days long. OR, like I did with Lexi here, in the fall of your senior year – BUT plan it early, there are only so many weekends in October and the weather is not always good. I ALWAYS make rain dates. Big Changes Ahead. Once a student graduates from High School, everything changes. It happened with my two sons. The changes personally and physically are enormous. In fact, every parent of my high school senior portrait clients say the same thing one year later, “We are so happy we had a senior portrait safari with you, our daughter has grown up so much since then!” Interview Photographers in you area. Find an experienced photographer and look at their work. Make a date to chat with them in person well in advance so you can get a session date that works for you. There are limited weekends for fall portrait dates at the peak of color. I will shoot […]
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. It is a great time for Senior Portrait Photography in Connecticut. This year has been both a pleasure and a challenge. The weather for the most part has been wonderful, even with so little rain and unusually warm conditions. Unfortunately, the colors never really popped. The only ‘reds’ I had here were the poison ivy vines! When the rain and wind did come all the leaves came down except for the mighty oaks which were pretty ravaged in my neck of the woods by caterpillars. Ah, the challenges of outdoor portraits! Besides all this, I managed to arrange and rearrange schedules to make it all work this October. Senior Portrait Photography does not have to be limited to High School Seniors. This year I did a number of College Senior Portraits for graduating UCONN students, both last spring and this fall. Meet Tara, a senior from UConn who called me about senior portraits as a gift for her parents after putting her through college. What a wonderful idea and I am sure her parents will be thrilled. Tara is a bright and intelligent young lady from Texas. She fell in love with New England and wanted an opportunity to be photographed in the beautiful fall colors. […]
Hi Everyone! Thanks for checking my blog. It is January and it is pretty cold out there now. The last couple of months were great for shooting natural light portraits out of doors. Now, it is really too cold… but would love to do some more snow portraits if anyone is game!
Kim Bova Photography went on a photo safari to kick off the Senior 2013 season a few weeks ago with our new Senior Ambassador from EO Smith High School. His name is Pratik, an amazing talented computer wizard! We had a great time finding the right backgrounds and “the light”. We began in the studio and continued out on our safari through Mansfield Center and down to Willimantic with cool walls and natural backgrounds. Each senior has a unique session designed just for them! Check out some of my favorite images of Pratik. If you are a High School Senior this year, do call Kim to schedule a complimentary meeting to talk about your senior portraits this year! If you are at EO Smith, do seek out Pratik and talk to him about his experience with our studio! Create unique, personal and fun images of who you are right now! I look forward to meeting you. Feel free to leave a comment here on the blog!
Well, I don’t want to play favorites.. but there are exceptions! I felt the same way when my older son Dave was a HS Senior and it is no different now with my son Matt who just graduated earlier this week from E.O. Smith High School in Storrs, CT. This was one of my favorite sessions – we did a Senior Safari that was a blast! Here are some of my favorites from the day. I hope you enjoy them. I have posted a few others on my facebook page, so just click the link below to “Like” my page and see more! Thanks for checking out my blog.. Please leave a comment. Thanks.
Congratulations to another one of my amazing high school seniors of 2012 – Bridget. She is a lover of animals, soccer and fun! We had a great senior portrait safari right in her own backyard. Full of goats, dogs, cats and llamas, the yard was perfect for showing Bridget as she is right now! Thanks for a great session and good luck as you move forward toward a career in nursing.
I am happy to continue photographing my awesome 2012 high school seniors here in Connecticut. I love this part of my job because I meet the most amazing young people. Congratulations to Lyle, from South Windsor High, this is one big accomplishment with many more to come I am sure! Lyle was a rock star during his session and I want to share some of his images with you. And with his awesome car! Good luck to you at college next year, Lyle!
I had the pleasure of photographing James on a cold but beautiful day in October. He loves mountain biking and is a talented cross-country runner and runs for his High School team. He will probably do well at this in college next year as well. Here are a couple of my favorites from our studio session!
It is nearing the end of ‘Senior Season’ for me, so I am posting another cool senior! Meet Evan, a confident, outdoorsman who loves fly-fishing. We hiked down to rivers and streams, and even caught a great sunset.
Alex is an extraordinary athlete. He has excelled at many sports and continues to play baseball and Hockey for his high school. We had a great time during his senior portrait session and here are a couple of my favorites!
