Summer Dreaming In March.

SUMMER DREAMING. Do you miss summer as much as I do?  Well, with another n’or easter rolling into Connecticut today, I am really done with winter.  Earlier today I was reading a blog post about how going to the beach is so healthy for your mind and body and found myself lost in a fit of summer dreaming.  Since it is not a good beach day I started photographing my seashell collection.  Yes, it is kind of dorky, but I love photographing pretty things.  Still, I would rather feel some warm sand under my feet and smell the ocean air.  Hopefully, today is the last snow storm of the season! My Favorite Beaches I feel very lucky to live here in southern New England because there are many nice beaches a few hours away.  These shells and crab leg (above) come from my visits to Cape Cod’s  National Seashore .   If you go there in the warm months, the beaches are amazing before 8 am and after 5 pm.  (Less people and free parking.)  We like the open space and feeling like we have more beach to ourselves.  Here is a great spot I found early one morning on the […]

Engagement Session in the Snow – Rachel and Rusty

This engagement session in the snow with Rachel and Rusty was a blast.  Any time of year is great for engagement sessions, but the snow is a lovely added element.  It is reflective on faces and simplifies the landscape in the backgrounds.  Rachel and Rusty will be married next summer here in CT, but we had to work around their semester schedule as they live across the country in California!  The only time we had for their engagement session was Thanksgiving weekend and what a beautiful weekend it was.  We had a light and pretty snow on the ground so Rachel wore gloves and a matching scarf which I love in portraits as they can add color and frame the face nicely.  All in all it was a lovely afternoon, with the soft light of winter on their beautiful faces.  Two of their favorite images will go on their ‘Save the Date’ cards. Thank you Rachel and Rusty for a great time.  I am looking forward to their August wedding here in Connecticut at The Pavilion on Crystal Lake in Middletown next summer. Here are some favorite images from this engagement session!         If you are newly […]

Fun CT Engagement Sessions!

This is what I believe: -That every engaged couple wants beautiful images of themselves to mark this special time in their lives, which will enable them to feel comfortable being photographed on their wedding day. -Every person deserves to have beautiful photographs of themselves that reflect who they are now, so that future generations can connect to their family history in years to come. If you feel this way, welcome! My job as a ‘family historian’ begins with weddings.  Yes, I am a wedding photographer in CT who cares about the importance of family history. A fun way to invite wedding clients into my studio is the engagement session.  Engagement sessions are fun and helpful especially if you can do it with your chosen wedding photographer.  I will tell you why- You and your wedding photographer, the person you will be spending a great deal of time with before, on and after your wedding day, will make it their mission to capture you and your partner as you are naturally and find out what your concerns are regarding how you look in photos. Do you suffer from photo trauma?  This kind of session before the wedding day can cure this!  Your […]
