Attention Rising Seniors – the time is NOW!

Attention Rising Seniors- Class of 2018! Believe it or not, it is time for you to schedule a Senior Portrait Session!  You will be a senior soon so here is the scoop: Summer is the best time to be photographed! Most High School Seniors love how they look with a tan and so relaxed in the summer.  You can even bring a buddy! There are discounts for Rising Seniors who sign up early for late June and July dates! Call today !  Contact me now for a complimentary meeting to discuss your High School Senior Portraits; we can set a date for summer if you decide I am the right photographer for you.  These sessions fill up quickly!  Come in and meet Kim- she will show you the cool stuff you can do with your photos. Here are a few shots from an EO Smith High School Senior that I photographed last year.  Meet Ryan, a football star and great kid all around!  We […]

Great Portrait Locations

Great portrait locations. Great portrait locations are everywhere, depending on what kind of portraits you are creating and what your are looking for.  Light rules.  If the light is awful, find another location.  Every town or city has great portrait locations,  it is just a matter of finding places that provide backgrounds that are not too busy and don’t overwhelm the subject(s) and you need to know the time of day when the light will be perfect.  High noon is not great, ends of days are.  (note: I have photographed many noontime weddings, where I use flash, or decide to blow out backgrounds if I have to to capture good portraits or action at high noon.  This article speaks to the ideal light for portraits only) This example above was literally a pretty bush by the side of the road!  I loved the colors against her neutral clothing, and the woods behind her were not distracting.  The most important thing was that the sky was wide open (no big trees) at an angle slightly to the side and in front of her so I could use it to light her face.  It was late afternoon warm light with the sun backlighting the trees behind her […]

High School Senior Photography that makes YOU look great!

I am excited about photographing many High School Seniors this summer.  So I am writing about High School Senior Photography that makes you look great.  The way I help you do this is by taking the focus off yourself.  Follow?  When your attention is off yourself, and you are having fun, you will look great!  We will talk, chat, laugh and focus on having fun with poses in the studio… and if you choose an on location session, we go to a special places you love and that have meaning for you!  I create a fun experience so that we can create photos that you look great in! Preparation is important, too.  Both of us have to prepare. I will meet you prior to your session in order to find out what makes you special and unique at this point in your life and learn about your interests and accomplishments.  Then we make a plan and pick a session that is appropriate for you.  I want to personalize the senior portrait experience for you. You just have to decide on and bring your favorite outfits and props that mean something to you to your session.  You know, things that represent […]

Cupcakes + Puppies + HS Senior = FUN!

I had the pleasure of spending an hour with a beautiful High School Senior named Hannah.  She is a fun-loving person, an expert baker, a leader at her school and has the cutest little dog named Luna.  What a fun time we had!  Here are a few of our favorite images.  Thank you, Hannah for a really fun session.

Senior Sessions Designed Just for YOU!

Kim Bova Photography went on a photo safari to kick off the Senior 2013 season a few weeks ago with our new Senior Ambassador from EO Smith High School.  His name is Pratik, an amazing talented computer wizard!  We had a great time finding the right backgrounds and “the light”.  We began in the studio and continued out on our safari through Mansfield Center and down to Willimantic with cool walls and natural backgrounds.  Each senior has a unique session designed just for them! Check out some of my favorite images of Pratik. If you are a High School Senior this year, do call Kim to schedule a complimentary meeting to talk about your senior portraits this year! If you are at EO Smith, do seek out Pratik and talk to him about his experience with our studio! Create unique, personal and fun images of who you are right now!  I look forward to meeting you. Feel free to leave a comment here on the blog!

James – Senior Portrait

I had the pleasure of photographing James on a cold but beautiful day in October.  He loves mountain biking and is a talented cross-country runner and runs for his High School team.  He will probably do well at this in college next year as well.  Here are a couple of my favorites from our studio session!

Evan – A senior who loves the outdoors.

It is nearing the end of ‘Senior Season’ for me, so I am posting another cool senior! Meet Evan, a confident, outdoorsman who loves fly-fishing.  We hiked down to rivers and streams, and even caught a great sunset.

Alex – Senior session

Alex is an extraordinary athlete.  He has excelled at many sports and continues to play baseball and Hockey for his high school.   We had a great time during his senior portrait session and here are a couple of my favorites!

Portrait Session in the studio today!

Here are a few images from a portrait session today.  Jaliene is a natural in front of the camera.  She did not bring a dress, so we made one out of black fabric instead! Thanks, Jaliene for a great shoot!

Zachary’s Amazing Senior Session!

I had a great time on Horsebarn Hill and in the studio with one of my awesome HS Seniors and wanted to share a few images from our session!  We did this a few weeks ago before the weather turned cold!
