A Favorite Image.

I know it is rather traditional and maybe out of date to some minds.. but this kind image is a favorite of mine.  I love the uniqueness of each hand; the contrast and the details.  Hands have always been a favorite photographic subject of mine.  When I studied fine art at UConn, I made a book (by hand)  filled with photographs called, “Hands at Work”.   These were dentists, artists, a baker, a mechanic, etc.   Hands in themselves can tell the story of the person or persons they belong to.  What does this image say to you?  Please leave your thoughts, I would love to know.

Connecticut’s Wedding Venue -The Waterview, is Perfect for Intimate Moments

Here is a look at a few details and quiet moments from one of my favorite weddings of last season.  If you are looking for a beautiful venue, professional and helpful staff, check out the Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.  There was an abundance of natural light everywhere which I love!  There are many large windows which made a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony, the bride and her details. Once it cooled down outdoors, the garden area offered me some beautiful reflected light for more portraits. Thanks for visiting my blog.  Feel free to leave a comment, subscribe or simply check back soon! 🙂

Wedding at Amarante’s Seacliff New Haven

Congratulations to Petra-Ann and Derrick who were married in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by friends and family – many who came from Jamaica! I had a great time photographing these gorgeous people.  As usual, Amarante’s Seacliff did a great job!   Here are a few of my favorite moments from the day.   First, a quiet few moments with mom and dad. Bubbles kept the kids busy while we waited for everyone to arrive! And at last, even after dark we had portraits to do down by the water at Amarantes…. the skyline and the evening was beautiful!

One of my dearest friends is married!

My dear friend, Carol, a fabulous guitarist and singer, was married last weekend.  I had the honor of being her photographer! What a blast!  One of the most fun weddings I have been to EVER!  It helped that almost everyone there were super talented musicians, so there was LIVE music at the ceremony and reception!  Carol and Steve performed as well.  My best to you both!  Here are a few images from the day.

Waterview Wedding in Connecticut!

I had the honor of photographing the Wedding of Lauren and Anthony at the Waterview in Monroe, CT.   It was a lovely ceremony which was held inside due to the wet weather.  The ceremony room and reception tables were beautifully decorated with flowers by Elizabeth of Blush Floral Design. I loved this special moment between Lauren and her mother just before the ceremony. Lauren wore an amazing dress which looked comfortable and gorgeous! …..and Tony looked great as well. After the ceremony and formal photos, Lauren returned wearing these shoes and a cute short dress for the party! Anthony changed his shoes as well! Congratulations to Lauren and Tony!  AND a thank you to Jean Molodetz for her help as second photographer.  Your images speak volumes,  and I look forward to working together again soon. Celebrating Love in Connecticut!

I am celebrating the love between Petra and Derrick on the blog today!  These two very special people are to be married in October and I look forward to their wedding at Amarante’s! They were right at home in the fields around my studio in Mansfield, CT.   The love I saw and felt between them warmed my heart! I feel that the engagement session is an opportunity for engaged couples to capture something special for themselves that they may not have another chance to do.  These days leading up the the wedding day are very special. Thank you, guys, for a wonderful afternoon together. Thank you for stopping by my blog.  Check back for other engagements, weddings and portraits; and friend me on facebook, too!

Cliff Mautner Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp

I recently attended the May Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp taught by Cliff Mautner in Haddonfield, NJ.  Cliff, one of the top ten photographers in the world, is a natural teacher, as well as a supportive, generous and genuine person.  I found this workshop to be a life-changing experience.  Why go anywhere else?  I highly recommend it to any wedding photographer who, like myself, always ran for the shade. Or, that struggles with adding light when there is no ‘quality light’ to be found.  With Cliff’s coaching and personal attention, I was able to find the light, see the light, or add the light myself. We had plenty of time to work for 2 and a half days, with a group of beautiful models on location in downtown Philadelphia.  ‘Hands on’ was what I needed to be able to see and understand what Cliff was teaching.  The size of the workshop was perfect, no more than 18 photographers, who were some of the most wonderful and talented people from all over the world that I have met.  We all delighted in the realization that we could actually leave this workshop with skills that each of us could use to create our […]

Wedding Tips – Finding Your Photographer.

Unlike looking for your perfect venue or dress, which you can see and experience in the moment…the photography is something very different.  You need to be able to trust your photographer to produce the kind of imagery you desire at a future date! This is no small task.  It requires asking for photographer referrals from family and friends; then looking at their websites, interviewing them in person, taking good notes and having a list of questions ready for them.  Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and let them know exactly what you envision for your wedding photography. San Francisco wedding photographer, Joseph Kohn, has a great article on his website about these specific questions to ask each photographer you interview.

Custom Designed Wedding Albums

I thought I would begin a blog series of wedding album designs.  This way you can see what I do for my clients after the wedding. All my albums designs are custom, made specifically to match the couples style and the wedding day feel.  No two albums are ever the same!  The style I chose here was simple and traditional. Meet Amy and John.  They were married in June 2010 and they planned an intimate garden wedding.  Check back soon as I will be showing you more designs from this years weddings.   Thank you for stopping by the blog!
