Anna & Nayan’s Publick House Wedding

I had the honor of photographing Anna & Nayan’s wedding recently at one of my favorite venues, The Publick House in Sturbridge, MA.   It was a perfect day!  Congratulations to this wonderful couple.  They planned it all themselves with some help from some wonderful wedding vendors!  Take a look… Hair and makeup by Tiffany Leo of Tiffany’s Hair Studio in Sturbridge, MA.   She does great work for brides who like the natural look. The beautiful fall flower bouquets and totally inspired flower purses for the bridesmaids were created by Helena Willis of Perfect Princess Events in Vernon, CT. Anna all ready to go in a dress by Oleg Cassini. ‘First look’ in the tight corners of the publick House.  Nayan is very tall and the ceilings are very low! On the porch of the Publick House. A friend of Anna makes chapstick and they were the vehicle for the place cards on the reception table.  Anyone want to share the creators name?   This was cool. And the Publick Houses’ beautiful garden gazebo for the ceremony. The reception was held in the magnificent Canopy Tent next to the Garden Gazebo and Cathy O’Brien did an amazing job with catering and […]

CT Wedding decor that is handmade – a trend this season.

I have noticed that brides in Connecticut are cutting costs by handcrafting their table decor and bouquets!  I have seen some fun in this area and would like to share these ideas with you! First, how about saving your corks from wine bottles, or maybe you or someone you know works at a restaurant and can set them aside and make place card holders with them!  Two per card and tied together with twine.  Simple! How about silk flowers that  look fresh!  And last for years, not hours! ….and simple burlap and art paper! Perfect decor for the head table in New England’s historic Publick House wedding reception. Or how about really being ‘green’ and make paper flowers for your wedding reception tables!! Handmade mustaches for photo fun! These handmade touches created weddings that were personal and original, and great fun to photograph! I hope you have enjoyed this post!

Spring in Connecticut is bursting out all over!

Here is a look at what is happening in my garden.  Bleeding hearts in full bloom.

Spring flowers in CT.

My Magnolia is blooming on this first day of spring 2012!  I love this tree and this year there is no fear that the blooms will freeze.  This week, at least!  Spring weddings should be wonderful this year!

I thought you’d like some sun today!

Here is a sunny bouquet to brighten your spirits today! These Bridal Flowers were created by the mother of the groom at this Connecticut Wedding at Amarante’s Seacliff, in New Haven, CT.

Looking for Your Wedding Vendors?

Getting married in 2012? 2013?  Research is key to finding the wedding professionals who will help you create the wedding day of your dreams.  There are many websites and blogs that will list vendors in your area with reviews and images of their work.  To name a few, WeddingWire, Wedding Reports, GetMarried, The Knot, Martha Stewart Weddings and the list goes on.  Depending on the style of wedding you are planning it is helpful to look for vendors that have that ‘ feel’ you are going for. Now is the time to make a short list of vendors for 2012 weddings, and get out there and meet face to face.  Meet ups are more than just exchanging information as you can get a feel for the person who you will be communicating with AND spending hours with on your wedding day.  My recommendation: find the people you are comfortable with and actually like.  Usually the rest will fall into place. Check back as I will be posting about some of my favorite wedding vendor colleagues that I love working with and that you might consider for your wedding.  🙂 This beautiful centerpiece above was created by Melissa at Stylish Blooms […]

A Favorite Image.

I know it is rather traditional and maybe out of date to some minds.. but this kind image is a favorite of mine.  I love the uniqueness of each hand; the contrast and the details.  Hands have always been a favorite photographic subject of mine.  When I studied fine art at UConn, I made a book (by hand)  filled with photographs called, “Hands at Work”.   These were dentists, artists, a baker, a mechanic, etc.   Hands in themselves can tell the story of the person or persons they belong to.  What does this image say to you?  Please leave your thoughts, I would love to know.

Priya & Andy’s Wedding at the Riverhouse!

Priya and Andy were married on Saturday at The Riverhouse.  It was a morning ceremony and the weather was perfect.  The Riverhouse’s beautiful setting – a modern and unique patio with a beautiful garden was the ideal backdrop!  Congratulations Priya and Andy –  it was an honor to photograph your wedding.  Here are a few favorites from the day.   Very unique gift for the guests…a little live plant beautifully packaged!   A quiet moment before the reception..   Our beautiful bride!   And the beautiful gown by Maggie Sottero!

One of my dearest friends is married!

My dear friend, Carol, a fabulous guitarist and singer, was married last weekend.  I had the honor of being her photographer! What a blast!  One of the most fun weddings I have been to EVER!  It helped that almost everyone there were super talented musicians, so there was LIVE music at the ceremony and reception!  Carol and Steve performed as well.  My best to you both!  Here are a few images from the day.

Waterview Wedding in Connecticut!

I had the honor of photographing the Wedding of Lauren and Anthony at the Waterview in Monroe, CT.   It was a lovely ceremony which was held inside due to the wet weather.  The ceremony room and reception tables were beautifully decorated with flowers by Elizabeth of Blush Floral Design. I loved this special moment between Lauren and her mother just before the ceremony. Lauren wore an amazing dress which looked comfortable and gorgeous! …..and Tony looked great as well. After the ceremony and formal photos, Lauren returned wearing these shoes and a cute short dress for the party! Anthony changed his shoes as well! Congratulations to Lauren and Tony!  AND a thank you to Jean Molodetz for her help as second photographer.  Your images speak volumes,  and I look forward to working together again soon.
