December 22, 2014 in Pomfret, CT Last week in the beautiful rolling hills of eastern Connecticut, I photographed this Tyrone Farm Engagement Session with Julie and Chris. Their wedding will be next August, but December was the best time for their Tyrone Farm Engagement Session since they live in Dijon, France and were here for the holidays.
This engagement session in the snow with Rachel and Rusty was a blast. Any time of year is great for engagement sessions, but the snow is a lovely added element. It is reflective on faces and simplifies the landscape in the backgrounds. Rachel and Rusty will be married next summer here in CT, but we had to work around their semester schedule as they live across the country in California! The only time we had for their engagement session was Thanksgiving weekend and what a beautiful weekend it was. We had a light and pretty snow on the ground so Rachel wore gloves and a matching scarf which I love in portraits as they can add color and frame the face nicely. All in all it was a lovely afternoon, with the soft light of winter on their beautiful faces. Two of their favorite images will go on their ‘Save the Date’ cards. Thank you Rachel and Rusty for a great time. I am looking forward to their August wedding here in Connecticut at The Pavilion on Crystal Lake in Middletown next summer. Here are some favorite images from this engagement session! If you are newly […]
I had the pleasure of photographing Heather and Eric on Horsebarn Hill on the campus of the University of Connecticut. They are engaged to be married in July! Congratulations to them both. They are graduates of UConn so it was fitting to photograph them on “the hill”. I just love the images we made that day.
Thank you, Anna and Nayan for stealing time with me to create some photographs of you on your quick stop through Connecticut! Travel is a part of this extraordinary couple’s lives who now live now in England. We had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to have an engagement session right here in New England! We found some beautiful spots among the dogwoods, barns and country roads…. Congratulations to you both on your wedding in September! I am looking forward to telling your story in photographs.
As a wedding photographer in Connecticut, I am comfortable behind the camera, but a bride and groom may not be so comfortable as the subject on the other side. That is why I highly recommend ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS before the wedding day if possible. This gives you time to feel what it feels like to be the main photographic subject all day! The more time you spend with your photographer, the more comfortable you will be in front of their camera. This kind of pre-wedding session will also give you time to get to know your photographer and visa-versa: be yourselves – wacky, fun or a little crazy and there will be plenty of “moments” to capture the real you in photos you will cherish. Also, your photographer can help you learn to pose so you look great on this day AND ON YOUR WEDDING DAY. Posing is the not the big bad ugly that so many people think it is. I pose people to look their very best. Isn’t that what everyone wants – to look great? I also realize that it is important to look natural, too, there is no better place than an engagement session with your photographer […]
Two extraordinary people, Priya and Andy are planning an August wedding at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam, CT. So, for the engagement session, we had a great time exploring the grounds of the Connecticut landmark, Gillette Castle. I am happy we postponed the first date we set, because the weather could not have been more perfect! The castle has some beautiful light in the evening and when it reflects off the stone of the castle, it is really pretty. Even in B&W there is plenty of interest there. Thank you Priya and Andy for such a fun afternoon. I look forward to the wedding coming up soon!
What is an engagement session and why do I do them? This is the question I get asked most when I meet with my newly engaged couples. It is simple. This is the opportunity for you as a couple to see how I work, feel what it feels like to be in front of the camera, and for both of us to get to know each other better and establish a relationship before the wedding day. For me it is a great way to explore and see how you photograph and what angles make you look your very best, so that I can give you my best when it really matters on the big day! AND, last but not least, it is fun and you both have a great experience with great images of yourselves to remember this time in your lives forever. Here are a few of my favorites images from Erika and Steven’s session. These were taken on a spectacular day at Horsebarn Hill on the UConn campus in Storrs.
Tiffany and Bill gave me the honor of photographing them yesterday at the peak of fall foliage season here in Connecticut. What a day! We did dodge some raindrops, the sun peaked out for a few minutes and we were grateful that it was comfortably warm. We walked the grounds of the Wadsworth Mansion, Wadsworth Falls and Lyman Orchards in the Middletown area. Here are some of my favorite images from the afternoon. Thank you Tiffany and Bill and congratulations on your engagement! Please leave a comment or visit some of my portrait and wedding galleries on this site. Thanks for visiting by blog!
I had the honor of photographing two stunningly beautiful people this weekend. UConn students of Engineering, Zahra and Sina came to me for their photo session before their engagement/wedding party on Saturday. I wish you both the best!
