Looking for a Great Caterer?

Looking for a caterer?  If so, for your next event or wedding, look no further!  One of my favorites is Matt Becker, of Becker’s Catering, located in Tolland, CT.  Matt takes food seriously and is a fantastic chef, as well as a great person.  Yesterday at a wedding we both were working at, I got to try his Gluten Free Cupcakes and Chocolate Chip cookies for the first time.  Amazing.  You would never know they were gluten free.  The chocolate cupcakes melted in my mouth, the icing was creamy and dreamy.  The yellow cupcakes were just as perfect . The texture was no different to regularflour ones, but then again, I have been gluten free for 6 years,  I may not remember.  But I DO know how bad some gluten free cakes and cookies can taste.  I try to bake my own, but they never live up to the ‘real’ thing.    Becker’s Catering is a fantastic choice, if Matt can create the best gluten free baked goods, imagine how good the rest of his food is!  Here is the link to his website.  And – here is a look at his scrumptious and beautiful cupcakes!

Photography for Business Websites

It is important to have good photography for business websites that clearly represents you, your business and what you do for your clients.  Does your business website need spring cleaning?  How about taking a good look at the photography for your business website?  You may find that some fresh new photos of you, your staff, the office or store would help flow new life into the site.   It does not matter if you are a home based business, or a storefront.    I have been commissioned by musicians, Heating and Cooling companies, Electricians and Consultants to update images on their business websites.   I photograph the owners, their employees and their business in action.  Quality photography for business websites is important when you are selling a product or a service.  I am sure you have visited some sites where you landed on the homepage and found the blurry or poor quality images.  First impressions are everything, you can have good photos by hiring a professional. What you put out there matters.  Professional looking websites have great photography on them.  So hire a professional for a couple of hours on a day when your staff is prepped and well dressed, or you […]

‘Local First Mansfield’ 12-4pm on Dec 9, 2012

I am announcing an opportunity for you to give a gift of photography for someone special this year.  I will be participating in an event in Mansfield called, ‘Local First Mansfield‘, on Dec 9th from 12-4 pm at the Mansfield Community Center.  Buy local!  I will have gift certificates for portrait photography, which is a great value for giving at the holidays.  Also, an unusual thing for me, I will have photographic prints of some of my favorite images, landscapes, skyscapes, and some scenes from my travels for sale, starting at $25 and up.  I have not in recent years offered any prints for sale, so please do stop by and see what I have been up to besides photographing brides & grooms,  high school seniors and families!   This is something that I may not do again for awhile so don’t miss it.  Other businesses in attendance will feature services such as:  massage, specialty candies, handcrafted jewelry and more.  Please take the time to stop by and check it out.. who knows, you may be able to finish up your shopping for the holidays. Here are the images that I will be offering or taking custom size orders […]

The Necessary Headshot

Recently I photographed Kristin Schwab,  Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.   My approach to headshots is to photograph each individual in an authentic way while highlighting their best features.  The eyes are especially important in order to connect them to their viewers as you see below.  That is why I find this image compelling –  you can see who she is! In this visual world we live in, the headshot has become very important.  Are you putting your best face forward?  If you would like to, give me a call today!

A Professional Head Shot – so valuable for your business!

Eric Horton came to me recently and updated his head shot for his business website.  Having a professional head shot on your site is a great way to introduce yourself to your potential clients and gives them an easy way to connect with you.   Isn’t that is what we want as business people, to connect?  Plus, the quality of your professional image shows your attention to detail in your work.  We took some shots in both the studio and natural light area.  This gives Erik some choice and flexibility for his particular business needs.  Erik is a health coach, a very warm and caring person that after 30 seconds of being in his presence, I felt I had known him for years!  His business sounds wonderful for anyone, but especially those who are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle.  Check out his website today!  Eric says, “Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline.”  Sounds good to me!  Thank you, Erik, for trusting me with your head shots.  It was a fun time, too!

Brides Choice Award 2010!

I am proud to be chosen again this year to receive the Bride’s Choice Award from the WeddingWire Network. This network recognizes vendors that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds (brides and grooms) through surveys and reviews. If you are a bride or groom, check out the  WeddingWire storefront.  There are many wedding professionals, from florists, dress shops and planners that are great at what they do. You can read reviews from real customers to find what you need to finish planning your wedding day. You can even make your own wedding website to keep family and friends informed.  It is free and easy to set up.  My clients are doing that and having a great time with it! This is the time to update that headshot or portrait!

Now that the new year is underway, update that headshot.  Don’t settle for last years photo!  You’ve been working out and have a new hair-do, you look your best right now.  In fact, you will never look as good as you do today! Give me a call now. Here is Sue, she actually got it done!  Great job, Sue!  You look beautiful!

The Last Shot!

Here is the last portrait before my Thanksgiving vacation. This is my dear friend, Marcia Bauman, an amazing composer who is just beginning to write for musical theatre. She comes back every year or so to update her professional portrait.  I photographed her by the natural light in my studio.  She is a striking individual and I love photographing her.  I like how her brilliant hair is contrasted with her colorful scarf! Marcia and I went to graduate school together at the Eastman School of Music.  She is an extraordinary teacher and composer, as well as an expert in the field of music, health and conciousness.  She is fascinated with the way music carries information about our inner worlds.  This is really incredible stuff! Have a safe, warm and happy Thanksgiving! Kim
