Cool idea for ‘Save the Date’ card!

Meet my new friends and clients, Pamela and Jason.  They drove all the way down from Massachusetts to meet me before the snow storm yesterday for a photo session in the freezing cold.   Why? We shot for their totally awesome ‘save the date’ card! The card will have a bunch of ‘paparazzi style’ images of them and maybe I will post the end product here.  In the mean time – here is one of my favorite images of them. Can you guess where we shot this?  Yes, in Connecticut; yes, just before the snow storm….humm

Newly Engaged Couples!

If you have not already, now is the time to begin the process of finding your wedding vendors.  You probably have a date, a reception and church picked out already if your wedding is coming up in 2010.  But now is definitely the time to get a professional wedding photographer.   We tend to book up for next season around the holidays and into the winter months.  So do not wait, start making appointments now to meet some photographers in your area if you have not already.  Educate your self by talking to professionals about what they do, how they do it, and look at their work and ask a lot of questions.  The photographer is the one wedding professional that will be spending the most time with you on your wedding day.  So you had better like them!  Also, don’t worry about price!  Just look, meet, educate yourself on who and what styles you like and then worry about who fits your budget.  It makes it easier to talk to photographers when they feel that you are not price shopping, but actually looking for someone who fits your personal style with their images.  You can do this initially online by […]

St. Clement’s Castle is one of my favorite places for weddings!

St. Clement’s Castle right here in Connecticut is one of my favorite places to photograph weddings!  The setting is spectacular and the inside and outside of the building is perfect for all kinds of formal and informal images.  Besides the views and architecture, the staff there is so helpful and accommodating that it is a pleasure to work there. My brides and grooms have all had wonderful things to say about their experience at St. Clement’s as well.  I highly suggest this wedding venue if you can book it.

Garden Weddings in Connecticut

The natural light of garden weddings can make all the details look so beautiful.  I love how the light here was so soft which complimented the roses and the details of this brides dress.   I made this image recently after a garden wedding ceremony,  just before sunset.  Think about ‘time of day’ for your garden wedding.  Late in the day is usually the best, as it is cooler and the light is perfect for your photos.  You will look your best as well without the harsh sun on your face or on the white dress.

Gorgeous bride and groom from Nigeria

Here are some highlights from this weeks wedding.  Two very special people.  Tinunola and Tunde.  We only had an hour together, but it was a very special hour.  Both are from Nigeria, but met here in the US.   They will return home next year to celebrate with their families.  Tunde is a brilliant engineering student at UConn, and T is currently serving in the US military, on leave to get married! All the best to you both.

Riverview Wedding

I also shoot for Photopro Studios located in Glastonbury.  Last week I photographed a wedding for Glen, the owner and master photographer there.  Glen is a great guy and I thank him for all he has taught me over the years.  He has a great new office space in the Glen Lochen Mall in Glastonbury.  Stop by and say hello!   Here are a few highlights from the wedding at the Riverview in Simsbury.

Colby and Rich Engagement Shoot

Here are some highlights from Colby and Rich’s engagement shoot last weekend! We went over to Southford Falls State Park, in Southford, CT. Nice place to hike, picnic and enjoy the sound of a waterfall. Oh, and of course, make portraits! It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with Colby and Rich.   Two very sweet and special people.   Thank you, guys, for being so agreeable and for climbing all around those amazing waterfalls!  Can’t wait until the big day in September! Kim

Elegant Weddings in Connecticut

I noticed that brides are still loving the elegant, slightly deco style weddings in older halls like the Bond Ballroom in Hartford. What are some of your dream venues? Is it the Bond, the beach or somewhere else? Please share.
