A Wickham Park Wedding I had the honor of photographing Andrea and Jim’s Wickham Park Wedding at the Log Cabin in September. It was a bright sunny day with big puffy clouds so they could not have asked for weather. Joined by their family and friends, their vows were exchanged high on a hill overlooking the spectacular view of downtown Hartford. Great reasons to choose a Wickham Park Wedding. The Log Cabin at Wickham Park is one of my favorite places at the park to photograph a wedding. This location has a spectacular view of the city and sunsets. There is a resident Moosehead over the stone fireplace in the cabin for those who care! The white tent attached to the Log Cabin helps with larger events, rain, or hot days so this is a definite added advantage. The Guests and newly weds are able to enjoy the gardens for lovely photo opportunities or simply the ability to relax outside on the benches. On top of all this, the formal flower garden and outdoor ceremony patio (yes with a spectacular view) is a wonderful place for ceremonies. Andrea and Jim planned a day that was totally reflective of their interests and personalities resulting in a great time for everyone. Here are some photos from the day. We started photographing […]
I had the honor of photographing this Mystic Seaport Wedding of Krisann & Tim. What an awesome couple! Krisann just happens to work at Mystic Seaport so she knew how wonderful it would be. Plus she is so creative and talented that she made her own veil and arranged all the flowers bouquets and arrangements! The ceremony took place in the Greenmanville Church and their reception was at Latitude 41 the restaurant right next door to the Seaport. It was a lovely day for a wedding however very hot and humid, so we stuck close to the air-conditioned Latitude 41 and took photos around that area of the Seaport. Here are some photos from the day.
The day was cool and crisp and the fall foliage was at peak color. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate Chelsea and Peter’s Wedding at The Waterview. It was an honor for me to photograph their special day. They will create a fantastic life together. This was a brilliantly fun and elegant affair, as is the norm for a wedding at The Waterview. The details reflected the autumn colors with hints of Halloween everywhere giving it the feel of an old fashioned masquerade party. The Waterview has two wonderful settings for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Set on Lake Zoar in Monroe, CT, the grounds are well manicured with patios and well landscaped gardens. A wonderful setting for the photography. Here are some favorite photos from the day to share with you. Congratulations Chelsea and Peter! Best wishes to you both. This wedding at The Waterview was my last wedding of 2014. What a wonderful way to finish the season. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Today I am happy to share with you this recent Pomfret School Chapel Wedding at the Pomfret School of eastern Connecticut. Erin and Rob could not have had a more perfect day. It started out a little foggy but, as Erin’s father exclaimed after the ceremony, “The skies cleared as soon as they kissed!” The sun was bright and we had a beautiful, dry September day of celebration. Erin and Rob are two very special people. I met Erin a few years ago at a chamber of commerce meeting. She took my card then, and now many years later, she called when they decided to marry! I am thrilled that she did, as they planned a really fun and beautiful wedding and I had a chance to get to know them both a little more. One of her relatives had a Stanley Steamer car, so she arrived and departed in this cool old fashioned vehicle. The Pomfret School Chapel is a gorgeous place to be married. In fact, Erin’s parents were married there, too. I think that is pretty special. Erin and Rob included all her nieces and nephews as an integral part of the wedding party which made some […]
I had the honor of photographing Erin and Robert’s CT Engagement Session at Belltown Hill Orchards in Glastonbury last weekend. Since this beautiful couple lives right in the Orchard neighborhood, they arranged permission with the Orchard owners for us to photograph where no other people were. Plus, we were able to stay after the picking hours for the golden evening light and had the whole orchard to ourselves. How special is that?!? If you follow my blog, you may know how much I love photographing CT Engagement Sessions. Not only do we have beautiful landscapes in every corner of the state, but there is so much variety such as: farm country, cities, small quaint towns, beaches, and hilly trails and woods. Here are the 4 most important reasons why I love photographing CT Engagement Sessions: 1) Besides the fact that I have been a lifelong resident of this beautiful little state and I know many cool areas and beautiful spots for a CT Engagement Session, this is an important time for my couples and I to get to know each other better. I learn a lot about them from their session. For instance, I can see how self-conscious (or not) […]
COLORS! Wedding Trends for this year, 2014 are among my favorites! This year the popular wedding colors include blues of all kinds, deep purples mixed with warmer tones – from red, orange to pinks. So far, some of my 2014 brides are incorporating orange and reds for the fall; shades of green and ivory for spring; and cool blue-violet mixed with whites for summer! I love those pastels when it is blazing hot! I think color choices set a mood and tone for any event. If you are a dramatic personality – hot colors may be your thing. Romantic and understated, pastels and lace may be perfect! I think it actually depends on who you are, what you love and what time of year you decide to get married. What colors have you picked for your wedding day and why did you choose them? Please share by leaving a comment! I had the honor of photographing the marriage of Candy and Bob this past July – with family and close friends standing by as they joined their lives together. The ceremony took place in a tiny church in Hebron, CT which is located southeast of Hartford in the beautiful rolling hills and farmlands of this cool little state. There were big beautiful bouquets of summer flowers; pretty pots with ribbons lining the pews and lovely bouquets and boutonniers. After the ceremony & photos in the garden, we proceeded to downtown Hartford for the party at the fantastic restaurant ‘Firebox‘ that specializes in ‘Farm to Table’ foods. (A must visit if you have not already experienced this place.) It was a fine mix of sophistication and down to earth rustic which made a unique, fun and beautiful wedding day. Congratulations to this beautiful couple! Take a peek at what the day was like and please leave your comments below! Thank you for visiting my blog. I promised that I would show you more wedding albums I designed this year… so on this last day of 2012, here is another sampling from one of my favorites. This wedding took place at the Alumni Center on the campus of the University of Connecticut in July. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a elegant, intimate space for a wedding. There ceremony took place outdoors in the Courtyard patio area and the reception inside the pretty hall with a beautiful stairway and lots of windows. Graduates of UConn, Heather and Eric had a splendid day and created many of the wedding details themselves. Their fun-loving, warm and unique personalities were evident and were reflected in their choices of decor and reception details right down to the “donuts to go” bags that made it fun and comfortable for all their guests. Albums are a big part of my wedding business, it is the first family heirloom and will be a treasured keepsake to share with family and friends. The digital world of photography can be dangerous as a digital file can be lost or corrupted easily, and who knows what kinds of technology we will have in […]
I have been roasting turkeys and hams, finding time to take walks and talk with friends. That is what I love about this holiday season. But also, it is the time to finish up album designs, print orders and things like that. I would like to share a few pages from my album layouts that I am creating. I like to keep the pages simple, elegant and create a layout that will stand the test of time. No gimmicks or trendy stuff. This is the first family heirloom, after all. Here are a couple of pages from the album of Carolyn and Ryan. Their wedding was at the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA. It was an amazing day, from morning fog, to hot sun and then a torrential downpour! But this lovely couple took it all in stride and loved every minute of their day! I did, too. Well, now it is back to work on the final touches for the next album that I am getting ready for print! Please leave me some blog love with a comment here. I would love to hear from you.
I had the honor of photographing Anna & Nayan’s wedding recently at one of my favorite venues, The Publick House in Sturbridge, MA. It was a perfect day! Congratulations to this wonderful couple. They planned it all themselves with some help from some wonderful wedding vendors! Take a look… Hair and makeup by Tiffany Leo of Tiffany’s Hair Studio in Sturbridge, MA. She does great work for brides who like the natural look. The beautiful fall flower bouquets and totally inspired flower purses for the bridesmaids were created by Helena Willis of Perfect Princess Events in Vernon, CT. Anna all ready to go in a dress by Oleg Cassini. ‘First look’ in the tight corners of the publick House. Nayan is very tall and the ceilings are very low! On the porch of the Publick House. A friend of Anna makes chapstick and they were the vehicle for the place cards on the reception table. Anyone want to share the creators name? This was cool. And the Publick Houses’ beautiful garden gazebo for the ceremony. The reception was held in the magnificent Canopy Tent next to the Garden Gazebo and Cathy O’Brien did an amazing job with catering and […]
