I had the honor of photographing this Mystic Seaport Wedding of Krisann & Tim. What an awesome couple! Krisann just happens to work at Mystic Seaport so she knew how wonderful it would be. Plus she is so creative and talented that she made her own veil and arranged all the flowers bouquets and arrangements! The ceremony took place in the Greenmanville Church and their reception was at Latitude 41 the restaurant right next door to the Seaport. It was a lovely day for a wedding however very hot and humid, so we stuck close to the air-conditioned Latitude 41 and took photos around that area of the Seaport. Here are some photos from the day.
Amarante’s Sea Cliff Weddings are among my favorites to photograph. Located in New Haven, Connecticut on the shoreline, it is a romantic, fun place to celebrate. I have found that the staff treat every bride, groom and their families as if they were their own! Peter Garceau and his staff do an amazing job. On June 11th, Amarante’s Sea Cliff was at its best. It had rained all morning, however, just in time for setting up chairs out on the lawn, the clouds parted and the day that Stephanie and Adam had dreamed of became a reality. They could not have asked for more perfect timing. I met the bride and her girls in the beautifully decorated dressing room upstairs. There was champagne, laughter and anticipation. Stephanie’s father stopped by as soon as she was in her gown and we caught a beautiful moment as he saw her for the first time as a gorgeous bride! Here are some highlights from Stephanie and Adam’s special day.
We all adore love stories, don’t we? Here is an amazing one – a story of love found and lost, and found again. Two people who were meant to be together are now back together. This is Dawn and Dale, two extraordinary people who fell madly in love with each other when they were teens. They lost each other in Nebraska, due to life circumstances in the days before cell phones and internet, but a few years ago, they found each other! They both had been married and divorced, but, they immediately realized that their true love was as strong as ever and happily they reunited here in Connecticut. Now, they can spend the rest of their lives together. I had the honor of photographing their wedding at The Lake View Restaurant on Coventry Lake in Coventry, CT. They were married in the company of close family and friends wearing their native american style clothing in a beautiful ceremony that honored their past and present. They both have native american heritage in them, by the way. It was an incredible day and now their amazing love story can continue. I wish them all the best!

COLORS! Wedding Trends for this year, 2014 are among my favorites! This year the popular wedding colors include blues of all kinds, deep purples mixed with warmer tones – from red, orange to pinks. So far, some of my 2014 brides are incorporating orange and reds for the fall; shades of green and ivory for spring; and cool blue-violet mixed with whites for summer! I love those pastels when it is blazing hot! I think color choices set a mood and tone for any event. If you are a dramatic personality – hot colors may be your thing. Romantic and understated, pastels and lace may be perfect! I think it actually depends on who you are, what you love and what time of year you decide to get married. What colors have you picked for your wedding day and why did you choose them? Please share by leaving a comment! Rachel & Ben’s West Hartford wedding was a blast, not only for me as the photographer, but for everyone who attended. Rachel and Ben were married on a beautiful day this past September. When they told me that they were having a traditional Orthodox Jewish wedding, I was thrilled! The traditions are so rich and beautiful and I was very excited to photograph it for them. The weather was brutally hot and humid, but we had a wonderful air conditioned Temple to celebrate in. Rachel and Ben, with the help of the amazing congregation at the Beth David Synagogue in West Hartford, CT, created a lovely day with family and friends in attendance from near and far. The whole feel of the day was one of warmth, love and happiness. Once the dancing and entertainment began – was wild and fun! I met Rachel, a very talented opera singer and teacher, through the photographic work I do for the Hartford Opera Theater at the Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford, CT. Rachel and Ben (a lawyer in Hartford) moved here a few years ago. They love the congregation at Temple Beth David so much that they decided to get married […]
Congratulations to those couples who are newly engaged and planning your 2014-15 weddings! I have been meeting with many couples over the last month discussing their ideas about venues and details as they plan their weddings. Showing my albums and seeing the wheels turn as they look at my photographs, I decided it would be cool to share these ideas that my own clients created with everyone who drops by my blog as it could be helpful to others. In this post I will concentrate on a favorite of mine – ‘Black and White’ Weddings. Elegant, clean and appropriate for any time of the year. Thank you to my wonderful couple, Nicole and Michael for creating a beautiful day. One of my favorite venues for photographing – the grounds of the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, CT. Below you will see we photographed the formal portraits there. Black & White just pops in that setting and the garden colors were perfect with Mom’s beautiful dress. Be aware that there are fees and restrictions, but worth every penny, and please know that the fees help keep this very special place in tip top shape – so do your part and plan […]
I do have the best job in the world. I love serving my clients and thinking up cool ways to create something really special for each couple on their wedding day. There are many wedding locations in CT where I love to work. One of these is Amarante’s Seacliff in New Haven. Let me tell you a little about why I enjoy this place so much. #1: Grace and the whole team at Amarante’s treat their clients and vendors like family. (I am a preferred vendor there so I know!) They really care about your wedding day.. and they work with you as if you ARE a member of their own family. This is for real and not something you find anywhere. Trust me. #2: The food is awesome. I love to eat great food and when I photograph weddings I get very hungry so, it is always a pleasure to eat their fine food. Amarante’s does an awesome job at their Client Tasting events twice a year, too! #3: The service is wonderful. I have NEVER I experienced a hold up in the meal coming out or a glitch in the time-line that makes the guests fidgity wondering when […]
There is nothing quite like the feeling I get when I walk into a large cathedral, even in Connecticut. It could be anywhere in the world and it definitely takes my breath away. Beth and Alan planned an extraordinary wedding here in CT at the end of September and their ceremony took place in the beautiful Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Downtown Waterbury, CT. It is an Italian renaissance design after the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, (cool link, check it out!) is an extraordinary place to be married and I loved photographing it. While inside, you could pretend you were in Italy for an hour! Now, if you want to get married in a cathedral, you may want to get a dress that fits the church. Beth wore the perfect dress and ‘cathedral’ veil for this venue! I just love the long flowy dress and veil. They planned a joyous day – Alan’s family came all the way from Ireland and the two families met a few days prior to the wedding for the first time! The reception was held at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury, CT and their Stone Garden was perfect for formal photos […]
I had the honor of photographing the marriage of Candy and Bob this past July – with family and close friends standing by as they joined their lives together. The ceremony took place in a tiny church in Hebron, CT which is located southeast of Hartford in the beautiful rolling hills and farmlands of this cool little state. There were big beautiful bouquets of summer flowers; pretty pots with ribbons lining the pews and lovely bouquets and boutonniers. After the ceremony & photos in the garden, we proceeded to downtown Hartford for the party at the fantastic restaurant ‘Firebox‘ that specializes in ‘Farm to Table’ foods. (A must visit if you have not already experienced this place.) It was a fine mix of sophistication and down to earth rustic which made a unique, fun and beautiful wedding day. Congratulations to this beautiful couple! Take a peek at what the day was like and please leave your comments below! Thank you for visiting my blog.
