Alex is an extraordinary athlete. He has excelled at many sports and continues to play baseball and Hockey for his high school. We had a great time during his senior portrait session and here are a couple of my favorites!
Priya and Andy were married on Saturday at The Riverhouse. It was a morning ceremony and the weather was perfect. The Riverhouse’s beautiful setting – a modern and unique patio with a beautiful garden was the ideal backdrop! Congratulations Priya and Andy – it was an honor to photograph your wedding. Here are a few favorites from the day. Very unique gift for the guests…a little live plant beautifully packaged! A quiet moment before the reception.. Our beautiful bride! And the beautiful gown by Maggie Sottero!
Meet Sabiha, one of my high school seniors who is moving on up and off to college! We had a super session a couple of weeks ago. Multi-talented and interesting, Sabiha is a world traveler and spanish speaker. She has a bright future ahead and I can’t wait to see what she will create for herself in the years to come. I love getting to know these incredible young people as they launch themselves into their new lives… at college, or by working or traveling. Here are a few of my favorite images. Here we took advantage of the murals in downtown Willimantic. Below, the evening light was awesome! Thanks Sabiha! It was great fun working with you.
I am celebrating the love between Petra and Derrick on the blog today! These two very special people are to be married in October and I look forward to their wedding at Amarante’s! They were right at home in the fields around my studio in Mansfield, CT. The love I saw and felt between them warmed my heart! I feel that the engagement session is an opportunity for engaged couples to capture something special for themselves that they may not have another chance to do. These days leading up the the wedding day are very special. Thank you, guys, for a wonderful afternoon together. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Check back for other engagements, weddings and portraits; and friend me on facebook, too!
In the gardens around the Louvre I found this peaceful spot off the main path. Paris is full of small intimate gardens where one can sit and take some time. I could not find a name of the artist who created this beautiful sculpture. Three friends were having a rest and a drink in another small park across from Notre Dame Cathedral (in the background).
One of my favorite cities in the world! Paris. The light here is truly unique to this city. It must be the color of the buildings. Here is a quiet street and a couple heading home with dinner. I can only imagine. On the night of the full moon we just happened to come up from the Metro and see Le Tour Eiffel and the full moon sitting there together with a large human audience to witness the hourly sparkle! Glorious to capture this lunar moment and man-made spectacle together. My only regret was I did not pack my 200mm lens that evening to bring the full moon in closer. But. I was thrilled to be there! Check back for more images of Paris and the Champagne region.
I recently attended the May Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp taught by Cliff Mautner in Haddonfield, NJ. Cliff, one of the top ten photographers in the world, is a natural teacher, as well as a supportive, generous and genuine person. I found this workshop to be a life-changing experience. Why go anywhere else? I highly recommend it to any wedding photographer who, like myself, always ran for the shade. Or, that struggles with adding light when there is no ‘quality light’ to be found. With Cliff’s coaching and personal attention, I was able to find the light, see the light, or add the light myself. We had plenty of time to work for 2 and a half days, with a group of beautiful models on location in downtown Philadelphia. ‘Hands on’ was what I needed to be able to see and understand what Cliff was teaching. The size of the workshop was perfect, no more than 18 photographers, who were some of the most wonderful and talented people from all over the world that I have met. We all delighted in the realization that we could actually leave this workshop with skills that each of us could use to create our […]
I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Melanie and Jeff on Sunday. It took place at the beautiful Amarante’s Seacliff in New Haven, CT. Melanie looked fabulous in a gown by Casablanca from Fairy Tales Formal in Glastonbury. The cake was by Creative Cakes by Donna. The grooms mother, Beth Weller and friend, Janet Sanders provided the floral centerpieces and the beautiful sunflower bouquets! Here are a few of my favorite images from the day! The last image of the couples first dance was taken by the amazing, Jean Moledetz, who was my second photographer for the day!
Unlike looking for your perfect venue or dress, which you can see and experience in the moment…the photography is something very different. You need to be able to trust your photographer to produce the kind of imagery you desire at a future date! This is no small task. It requires asking for photographer referrals from family and friends; then looking at their websites, interviewing them in person, taking good notes and having a list of questions ready for them. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and let them know exactly what you envision for your wedding photography. San Francisco wedding photographer, Joseph Kohn, has a great article on his website about these specific questions to ask each photographer you interview.
