Looking for a caterer? If so, for your next event or wedding, look no further! One of my favorites is Matt Becker, of Becker’s Catering, located in Tolland, CT. Matt takes food seriously and is a fantastic chef, as well as a great person. Yesterday at a wedding we both were working at, I got to try his Gluten Free Cupcakes and Chocolate Chip cookies for the first time. Amazing. You would never know they were gluten free. The chocolate cupcakes melted in my mouth, the icing was creamy and dreamy. The yellow cupcakes were just as perfect . The texture was no different to regularflour ones, but then again, I have been gluten free for 6 years, I may not remember. But I DO know how bad some gluten free cakes and cookies can taste. I try to bake my own, but they never live up to the ‘real’ thing. Becker’s Catering is a fantastic choice, if Matt can create the best gluten free baked goods, imagine how good the rest of his food is! Here is the link to his website. And – here is a look at his scrumptious and beautiful cupcakes!
Dynamic Headshots stand out from more traditional ones to show who you are and what you do. I agree that we all need a straight forward headshot for certain sectors of business, but why not shake it up if you can and stand out from the crowd? If you do not work in a corporate office, take advantage of that to show your unique business. I had a great time creating headshots with Mary Hurley of Sunshine-n-Daisies, a physical trainer and health coach here in Connecticut. We did some standard shots and some for her website as well. But this image below was one of our favorites because of the uniqueness and this dynamic headshot quality. My goal is to help my clients grab the attention of potential clients, help them create an images for their business that reflect what they do and still be professional. I shot this dynamic image in my studio against a dark grey background (http://www.backgroundsbymaheu.com ). This is a 1 light portrait with a little fill from a reflector on the opposite side. I wanted to light her profile and show her as her clients would probably see her as their physical Trainer! Let me know if you need to update your headshot or other photos on your website. […]
The Connecticut National Golf Club in Putnam, CT was the setting for the wedding reception of Marie and Josh yesterday. What a beautiful day it was. There was warm brilliant sun, then a few clouds and cool winds – but the day was joyous and fun. Here is just a few photos from the day…MORE to come SOON.
Great portrait locations. Great portrait locations are everywhere, depending on what kind of portraits you are creating and what your are looking for. Light rules. If the light is awful, find another location. Every town or city has great portrait locations, it is just a matter of finding places that provide backgrounds that are not too busy and don’t overwhelm the subject(s) and you need to know the time of day when the light will be perfect. High noon is not great, ends of days are. (note: I have photographed many noontime weddings, where I use flash, or decide to blow out backgrounds if I have to to capture good portraits or action at high noon. This article speaks to the ideal light for portraits only) This example above was literally a pretty bush by the side of the road! I loved the colors against her neutral clothing, and the woods behind her were not distracting. The most important thing was that the sky was wide open (no big trees) at an angle slightly to the side and in front of her so I could use it to light her face. It was late afternoon warm light with the sun backlighting the trees behind her […]
Spring flowers are finally blooming in NE Connecticut. The sun is shining today, even though the temperature is still pretty cold. This is a rare free Saturday for me and I just wanted to post a photo of these ‘Happy Daffies’ in my front yard before I go out and enjoy the sunshine. Daffodils are my favorite spring flowering bulbs – such variety and so upbeat I can’t help but smile when I see them. What is your favorite spring flower? Leave a comment below 🙂 Quick tip for my fellow gardeners – I now order my seeds exclusively from Johnny’s Seeds – great variety, organic choices and always get great results from them. I just got my packet of seeds (quick shipping, too!) and hope to get the cool weather crops planted this weekend. Bok Choi, snap peas, lettuce to name a few. Enjoy your day and thank you for visiting my blog. Please leave a comment so I know you were here.
So you just got engaged and you have your venue and wedding date set. Congratulations! Now it is time to find a Photographer. Read on for 3 simple steps on how to find the best wedding photographer for you.
I love photographing pretty details at a wedding, the rings, shoes, jewelry. It is part of my job as a wedding photographer to do this and do it well. My clients put a lot of time and thought into the details. So on these cold snowy winter days, I find time to practice these things. This is the wedding photographers time to regroup and plan for the coming season.
Hi Everyone! Thanks for checking my blog. It is January and it is pretty cold out there now. The last couple of months were great for shooting natural light portraits out of doors. Now, it is really too cold… but would love to do some more snow portraits if anyone is game!
December 22, 2014 in Pomfret, CT Last week in the beautiful rolling hills of eastern Connecticut, I photographed this Tyrone Farm Engagement Session with Julie and Chris. Their wedding will be next August, but December was the best time for their Tyrone Farm Engagement Session since they live in Dijon, France and were here for the holidays.
This engagement session in the snow with Rachel and Rusty was a blast. Any time of year is great for engagement sessions, but the snow is a lovely added element. It is reflective on faces and simplifies the landscape in the backgrounds. Rachel and Rusty will be married next summer here in CT, but we had to work around their semester schedule as they live across the country in California! The only time we had for their engagement session was Thanksgiving weekend and what a beautiful weekend it was. We had a light and pretty snow on the ground so Rachel wore gloves and a matching scarf which I love in portraits as they can add color and frame the face nicely. All in all it was a lovely afternoon, with the soft light of winter on their beautiful faces. Two of their favorite images will go on their ‘Save the Date’ cards. Thank you Rachel and Rusty for a great time. I am looking forward to their August wedding here in Connecticut at The Pavilion on Crystal Lake in Middletown next summer. Here are some favorite images from this engagement session! If you are newly […]
