More HS Seniors!

Meet Sabiha, one of my high school seniors who is moving on up and off to college!  We had a super session a couple of weeks ago.  Multi-talented and interesting, Sabiha is a world traveler and spanish speaker.  She has a bright future ahead and I can’t wait to see what she will create for herself in the years to come.    I love getting to know these incredible young people as they launch themselves into their new lives… at college, or by working or traveling.  Here are a few of my favorite images. Here we took advantage of the murals in downtown Willimantic.  Below, the evening light was awesome!  Thanks Sabiha!  It was great fun working with you.

Senior Sessions at Kim Bova Photography!

Senior portrait sessions are going strong this summer!  This is the best time to schedule your senior session, when you are relaxed, tan and looking your best! Plus there is time to photograph at locations that have meaning for you, not just in the studio. Meet Alek, an awesome senior from the Class of 2011 who came to me for portraits recently.  Yes, I have been a little slow getting these posted on the blog, but he decided he didn’t like his school pictures so he came to Kim Bova Photography just a few days before his graduation!  We had a blast!  Here are a few of my favorites images of the day! Alek is quite talented in sports and academics.  He will be studying architecture in college next year!  Best of luck to you, Alek!

Waterview Wedding in Connecticut!

I had the honor of photographing the Wedding of Lauren and Anthony at the Waterview in Monroe, CT.   It was a lovely ceremony which was held inside due to the wet weather.  The ceremony room and reception tables were beautifully decorated with flowers by Elizabeth of Blush Floral Design. I loved this special moment between Lauren and her mother just before the ceremony. Lauren wore an amazing dress which looked comfortable and gorgeous! …..and Tony looked great as well. After the ceremony and formal photos, Lauren returned wearing these shoes and a cute short dress for the party! Anthony changed his shoes as well! Congratulations to Lauren and Tony!  AND a thank you to Jean Molodetz for her help as second photographer.  Your images speak volumes,  and I look forward to working together again soon. It is Senior Portrait Season!

Here is a look at one of my favorite seniors!  Meet Tess.  She was my senior representative and did a great job spreading the word about my senior portrait division of my business.  Thank you, Tess!  My best to you in the next exciting step in your life: college!

In the heart of Paris.

In the gardens around the Louvre I found this peaceful spot off the main path.  Paris is full of small intimate gardens where one can sit and take some time.  I could not find a name of the artist who created this beautiful sculpture. Three friends were having a rest and a drink in another small park across from Notre Dame Cathedral (in the background).

Wedding at Amarante’s Seacliff

I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Melanie and Jeff on Sunday.  It took place at the beautiful Amarante’s Seacliff in New Haven, CT.  Melanie looked fabulous in a gown by Casablanca from Fairy Tales Formal in Glastonbury.  The cake was by Creative Cakes by Donna.  The grooms mother, Beth Weller and friend, Janet Sanders provided the floral centerpieces and the beautiful sunflower bouquets!  Here are a few of my favorite images from the day!  The last image of the couples first dance was taken by the amazing, Jean Moledetz, who was my second photographer for the day!

Wedding Tips – Finding Your Photographer.

Unlike looking for your perfect venue or dress, which you can see and experience in the moment…the photography is something very different.  You need to be able to trust your photographer to produce the kind of imagery you desire at a future date! This is no small task.  It requires asking for photographer referrals from family and friends; then looking at their websites, interviewing them in person, taking good notes and having a list of questions ready for them.  Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and let them know exactly what you envision for your wedding photography. San Francisco wedding photographer, Joseph Kohn, has a great article on his website about these specific questions to ask each photographer you interview.

Spring Portraits!

Here I am! A rare image of me taken by my husband, Peter!  Just a point and shoot Nikon camera.. I was so enthralled with these beautiful blooming trees in Central Park!  We were in New York City this weekend and spring is just starting to bloom there! I anxiously await the spring blooms up here in the north country of Connecticut!  It is always a week or two later here.  My daffodil leaves are showing there heads but, I am not sure what happened to my crocus bulbs!  After this hard winter, they may not have made it!  Enjoy the day, the spring rains and the ‘green’ will come soon.

Wedding Tips For Brides and Grooms

Tip #3 When you picked your ceremony and reception site, what was it that you fell in love with?  What ever it is, let your photographer know.  It is important to me as a photographer to know what you envisioned when you chose that place.  For instance, if it is at a mansion and the spiral staircase and graceful columns were what excited you; or if that stonewall and barn behind the reception site made you jump for joy – make sure you communicate this so it is not overlooked that day.  This is a great reason why choosing a photographer who you feel comfortable talking with and who takes the time to listen and ask about what you have in mind is so important. If you chose a venue with no areas on site for creative photography, you can always find cool places on the way or in the area that are interesting and make good backdrops for your group photos.  You just need to communicate the need for this and plan it with your photographer.  I am always available to go to on site ahead of time and walk it with my couples so we are on the […]
