Fall Portrait Sessions – Booking Now.

Fall Portrait Sessions are a favorite of mine.  Autumn seems to be arriving early this year so I would like to encourage you to get a jump on scheduling a portrait session time for yourself, significant other, family, pets, or all of the above!  The days are warm and the evenings cool – perfect weather for portraits here in Connecticut! There are limited weekend days so hurry and call me if that is your only time to schedule your Fall Portrait Sessions, or I am available on weekday afternoons after school or work as well. Things to think about: 1-Portraits make create holiday gifts for family.  Why not get a jump of the holiday shopping?  Portrait gifts make it easy to create a personal gift that can be shared with many family members.  Family portraits are priceless, especially to parents and grandparents.  Whether they are far away or living close by, grandparents love having your beautiful faces and smiles on their wall or mantle all year round.   2- Children grow up fast. (Although I realize, sometimes it feels really slow) Time flies and before you know it you may realize that you do not have a professional quality family portrait that is up to date.  Right NOW is a great time to […]

What should we wear for our engagement session?

My wedding clients often ask:  ‘What should we wear for our engagement session?’ Here are some answers to this common question- 1- Wear something that reflects your personality and that you feel good in.  This will help you feel comfortable especially if you’ve never had a professional photographer photograph you before.  Some of my clients have told me that they were nervous at first and that wearing something comfortable and familiar made them feel like themselves.  I photograph many couples in jeans as well, so as long as you feel at home in the clothes you wear, it will allow you to be yourself.  2- Find clothes that flatter your figure.  How do you do this?  Here is an important photographic fact that will help you: The lightest color in a photograph will appear larger.  Hmm, how about that!  We all have some some body issue that we do not appreciate when we see ourselves in photos.  It could be those few pounds we have been meaning to lose or something you don’t like about your figure.  Try to avoid wearing large horizontal stripes as it may draw attention to the part you don’t like.  Also, if your arms or legs are paler than your face, cover them up!  They will only look larger.  Your face should be the brightest part of the […]

Seaside Wedding in Westbrook, CT

I had the honor of photographing Tracey and Chris’s wedding in Westbrook, CT.  It was a perfect June day to be on the Long Island Sound.  The Elks Lodge in Westbrook was a wonderful place for a small and intimate wedding of family and friends.  Tracey and Chris were supported by their two amazing sons, close family and wonderful friends.  Congratulations to this couple!  Here are a few photos from the day.

Have lenses that are at least f 2.8 and that cover wide angle from at least 24mm and one that can zoom to 200mm, I carry two zooms -24-80 and 80-200mm,  plus a 105 macro lens for details.  You must have at least 2 flashes and know how to use them ON AND OFF the camera. Guilford Yacht Club Wedding in CT

A Guilford Yacht Club  wedding is always wedding in Connecticut that I look forward to!  The setting is fantastic with views of the Long Island Sound, pretty sailboats next door, and a beautiful green lawn for an outdoor ceremony.  This venue is perfect for the photography especially when the weather is cooperating like on this day. Cassie and Steve’s wedding last October is a perfect example of luck when it comes to the weather.  Leading up to that day, it was a little nerve wracking but, that morning the sky cleared and we could not have asked for a better day.  Their guests were able to ramble on lawn and the wedding party and their families were able to have portraits done there before the ceremony began. The Venue. Inside the Guilford Yacht Club there are many benefits to note for a wedding celebration.  I love the main dining room’s open space with a four sided balcony above.  It provides great views of the action below, plus, the outdoor balcony that looks out to the Long Island Sound is great for group photos of the Bride and Groom and all their guests.  The entryway is nice for greeting guests and there is plenty of room upstairs for the bridal party to get ready on site.   A plus for everyone with […]

Connecticut Farm Wedding

I had the honor of photographing Crystal and Zack’s Wedding a few weeks ago.  It was a fantastic sunny and warm day, perfect for a Connecticut Farm Wedding!  The day was full of family and close friends, yet an intimate and fun event that everyone enjoyed.  The farm setting was unique and lovely, even the bride’s horse was right at home.  The kids had a blast running free all day and I think the adults had a really good time, too. A unique location like this has its challenges photographically because of the time of day, 12 noon, and open fields have no shade.  It really is the most difficult light of the day, however, I did not worry and found ways to make it work.  You see, the sun directly overhead makes it difficult to make light contour the face and body.  No light in the eyes, and people tend to squint more.  I had to make sure I used backlight and sidelight so everyone would look their best.  The shade of the big old tree, nature’s alter/church, was perfect and a nice backdrop for the ceremony.  There was an orchard where we did some photos down by the barn where we had darker […]

Mystic Seaport Wedding – Krisann & Tim

I had the honor of photographing this Mystic Seaport Wedding of Krisann & Tim.  What an awesome couple!  Krisann just happens to work at Mystic Seaport so she knew how wonderful it would be.  Plus she is so creative and talented that she made her own veil and arranged all the flowers bouquets and arrangements!  The ceremony took place in the Greenmanville Church and their reception was at Latitude 41 the restaurant right next door to the Seaport.  It was a lovely day for a wedding however very hot and humid, so we stuck close to the air-conditioned Latitude 41 and took photos around that area of the Seaport.  Here are some photos from the day.

Amarante’s Sea Cliff Wedding, New Haven, CT

Amarante’s Sea Cliff Weddings are among my favorites to photograph.  Located in New Haven, Connecticut on the shoreline, it is a romantic, fun place to celebrate.  I have found that the staff treat every bride, groom and their families as if they were their own!  Peter Garceau and his staff do an amazing job. On June 11th, Amarante’s Sea Cliff was at its best.  It had rained all morning, however, just in time for setting up chairs out on the lawn, the clouds parted and the day that Stephanie and Adam had dreamed of became a reality.  They could not have asked for more perfect timing.  I met the bride and her girls in the beautifully decorated dressing room upstairs.  There was champagne, laughter and anticipation.  Stephanie’s father stopped by as soon as she was in her gown and we caught a beautiful moment as he saw her for the first time as a gorgeous bride!  Here are some highlights from Stephanie and Adam’s special day.

An Amazing Love Story!

We all adore love stories, don’t we?  Here is an amazing one  –  a story of love found and lost, and found again. Two people who were meant to be together are now back together. This is Dawn and Dale, two extraordinary people who fell madly in love with each other when they were teens.  They lost each other in Nebraska, due to life circumstances in the days before cell phones and internet, but a few years ago, they found each other! They both had been married and divorced, but, they immediately realized that their true love was as strong as ever and happily they reunited here in Connecticut.  Now, they can spend the rest of their lives together. I had the honor of photographing their wedding at The Lake View Restaurant on Coventry Lake in Coventry, CT.  They were married in the company of close family and friends wearing their native american style clothing in a beautiful ceremony that honored their past and present.  They both have native american heritage in them, by the way.  It was an incredible day and now their amazing love story can continue.  I wish them all the best!
