A Wickham Park Wedding I had the honor of photographing Andrea and Jim’s Wickham Park Wedding at the Log Cabin in September. It was a bright sunny day with big puffy clouds so they could not have asked for weather. Joined by their family and friends, their vows were exchanged high on a hill overlooking the spectacular view of downtown Hartford. Great reasons to choose a Wickham Park Wedding. The Log Cabin at Wickham Park is one of my favorite places at the park to photograph a wedding. This location has a spectacular view of the city and sunsets. There is a resident Moosehead over the stone fireplace in the cabin for those who care! The white tent attached to the Log Cabin helps with larger events, rain, or hot days so this is a definite added advantage. The Guests and newly weds are able to enjoy the gardens for lovely photo opportunities or simply the ability to relax outside on the benches. On top of all this, the formal flower garden and outdoor ceremony patio (yes with a spectacular view) is a wonderful place for ceremonies. Andrea and Jim planned a day that was totally reflective of their interests and personalities resulting in a great time for everyone. Here are some photos from the day. We started photographing […]
I had the honor of photographing Tracey and Chris’s wedding in Westbrook, CT. It was a perfect June day to be on the Long Island Sound. The Elks Lodge in Westbrook was a wonderful place for a small and intimate wedding of family and friends. Tracey and Chris were supported by their two amazing sons, close family and wonderful friends. Congratulations to this couple! Here are a few photos from the day.
I had the honor of photographing Crystal and Zack’s Wedding a few weeks ago. It was a fantastic sunny and warm day, perfect for a Connecticut Farm Wedding! The day was full of family and close friends, yet an intimate and fun event that everyone enjoyed. The farm setting was unique and lovely, even the bride’s horse was right at home. The kids had a blast running free all day and I think the adults had a really good time, too. A unique location like this has its challenges photographically because of the time of day, 12 noon, and open fields have no shade. It really is the most difficult light of the day, however, I did not worry and found ways to make it work. You see, the sun directly overhead makes it difficult to make light contour the face and body. No light in the eyes, and people tend to squint more. I had to make sure I used backlight and sidelight so everyone would look their best. The shade of the big old tree, nature’s alter/church, was perfect and a nice backdrop for the ceremony. There was an orchard where we did some photos down by the barn where we had darker […]
The day was cool and crisp and the fall foliage was at peak color. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate Chelsea and Peter’s Wedding at The Waterview. It was an honor for me to photograph their special day. They will create a fantastic life together. This was a brilliantly fun and elegant affair, as is the norm for a wedding at The Waterview. The details reflected the autumn colors with hints of Halloween everywhere giving it the feel of an old fashioned masquerade party. The Waterview has two wonderful settings for outdoor wedding ceremonies. Set on Lake Zoar in Monroe, CT, the grounds are well manicured with patios and well landscaped gardens. A wonderful setting for the photography. Here are some favorite photos from the day to share with you. Congratulations Chelsea and Peter! Best wishes to you both. This wedding at The Waterview was my last wedding of 2014. What a wonderful way to finish the season. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Please leave a comment so I know you were here. 🙂 Vendor Highlights: Dress: www.dessy.com; Tuxes: Mens Warehouse; Flowers: Main Street Florist & Gifts, Ridgefield, CT; Hair: Pure Platinum Hair Salon in Oxford, CT; Nails: […]
Today I am happy to share with you this recent Pomfret School Chapel Wedding at the Pomfret School of eastern Connecticut. Erin and Rob could not have had a more perfect day. It started out a little foggy but, as Erin’s father exclaimed after the ceremony, “The skies cleared as soon as they kissed!” The sun was bright and we had a beautiful, dry September day of celebration. Erin and Rob are two very special people. I met Erin a few years ago at a chamber of commerce meeting. She took my card then, and now many years later, she called when they decided to marry! I am thrilled that she did, as they planned a really fun and beautiful wedding and I had a chance to get to know them both a little more. One of her relatives had a Stanley Steamer car, so she arrived and departed in this cool old fashioned vehicle. The Pomfret School Chapel is a gorgeous place to be married. In fact, Erin’s parents were married there, too. I think that is pretty special. Erin and Rob included all her nieces and nephews as an integral part of the wedding party which made some […]
COLORS! Wedding Trends for this year, 2014 are among my favorites! This year the popular wedding colors include blues of all kinds, deep purples mixed with warmer tones – from red, orange to pinks. So far, some of my 2014 brides are incorporating orange and reds for the fall; shades of green and ivory for spring; and cool blue-violet mixed with whites for summer! I love those pastels when it is blazing hot! I think color choices set a mood and tone for any event. If you are a dramatic personality – hot colors may be your thing. Romantic and understated, pastels and lace may be perfect! I think it actually depends on who you are, what you love and what time of year you decide to get married. What colors have you picked for your wedding day and why did you choose them? Please share by leaving a comment! Just catching up on my blog, I am a little behind. So, starting with this lovely July wedding…. I first met Lily at her place of work, as her boss employed me to create head shots on site for the staff. Lily mentioned that she was looking for a wedding photographer so I gave her my card. Subsequently, she did hire me, and when I finally met with both Lily and Joe for their engagement session, I instantly knew this was a divine match! They were made for each other. Have you ever met a couple while in their presence you could just feel the love between them? Well, there it was! So, on July 20, Lily and Joe promised their lives to each other at the beautiful Storrs Congregational Church on the UCONN Campus. It was during that brutal heat wave we had – but Joe and Lily looked cool and collected all day long! Happy to be together and surrounded by their amazing families. The reception was at Lily’s parents house near by, a beautiful spot in the woods with garden, pool, barn and a big tent in case of rain. Well, they had everything that day – […]
What a wonderful day for Rachel and Mario. The weather was perfect all day, a cool rainy morning which cleared up just in time for the ceremony on the beautiful lawn of the Guilford Yacht Club. Here is a peek at some moments from their day. Stay tuned for more later….and please leave some blog love before you go!
I love the small intimate feel of a garden wedding at home. It is a personal reflection of the couple, their families and their new life that lies ahead. This past weekend I had the honor to be the photographer at Beckie and Lester’s wedding. What a lovely day they planned with the help of family and friends. They even had home brewed beers with the coolest custom labels! After all the rain, it turned out to be a ‘picture perfect’ day. Here are a few images to give you an idea of how wonderful a day it was! Congratulations to this awesome couple and their families.
The White Rose by John Boyle O’Reilly The red rose whispers of passion, And the white rose breathes of love; O, the red rose is a falcon, And the white rose is a dove. But I send you a cream-white rosebud With a flush on its petal tips; For the love that is purest and sweetest Has a kiss of desire on the lips. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Traditionally the white rose is a symbol of innocence and purity. That is why it is often used in wedding bouquets to symbolize these traits in the bride.
