My challenge this summer has been the weather. The rains have come heavy and hard and it has made me stretch in many ways. When it is pouring, photographing outdoors is impossible – so you have to make it work somehow. My engagement session with Lily and Joe turned out great, but on my drive to their home I was not sure what I would do. The sky was clear and sunny when I left my studio. The forecast called for scattered thunder showers but I was optimistic. Five minutes away from their home I saw a sight that made my heart sink. The highway was up high so I could see the hills ahead where Lily and Joe’s neighborhood was. A huge black cloud was hanging low and letting loose with a downpour…. it was actually quite beautiful… but I feared it was where I was headed. I was right. It was pouring right over their neighborhood! We ended up sitting and chatting for awhile, which was fun. Then we took a few images in the house, and this first one is my favorite. They had a pretty living room window, so I silhouetted them together in front of it. Then later when the sun came out we went into the garden they nurtured all summer and took some more fun shots there. Here are my favorites. By the end of the session, we all had very wet feet, but we were happy.
